If Kareem made Bynum so good, then why does Kwame Brown still suck? It's more likely that the coaches told Bynum the same thing they told Kwame. The difference is that someone like Bynum or (or Tiki Barber) is able to take what he's told and apply the lessons on the court. While someone like Kwame Brown (or Ron Dayne) isn't willing or isn't able to apply what he's been taught.
In Dwight Howard, Yao Ming, and Bynum, the coaches had someone to work with that was able physically or mentally to improve. Teachers in every field are like sculptors. It depends on the elasticity of the medium - the more pliable the clay the more the teacher can make it into something beautiful.
In other words Eddy Curry is a hard lump of clay.
