Thats the point, the goal at this point is not a championship. Thats the problem many of you seem to not get, the team is competing with one goal to make the playoffs. They are so far from an nba finals its not even funny, they know that. Many people on this board have a short lease when it comes to this team, november schedule is rough and people are quick to point the finger.

The facts are, we are losing like we lost last year. The only difference is that the team and coach, are playing more aggressively than last year and the schedule is much harder to start. There competing against top talent teams and in most games have the chance to win. I could understand all of this talk if they werent playing with emotion, if they didnt have heart to come back (see last year) but their not.

Also, many people love to jump on Francis and Marbury because they are the top $$ makers and marbury is the face of the organization. If he scored 20+ every game we lost, you would still talk about him. The fact of the matter is scoring is not the issue, (I think Francis should come off the bench when jeffries returns)it's defense and turnovers that is why we losing. Silly turnovers.

I hate to see people always talk so negatively all the time. Take this and apply to a real world situation, if you were trying to teach your kid how to ride a bike and he wasnt getting and kept falling down. Would you automatically say screw this, you'll never ride a bike or lets trade your bike in for a skooter. What good does that do ? Eventually that kid will learn to ride the bike. Excuse my analogy, but I think it had to be made, your giving up on this team way to early!

In my best Jim Mora "playoffs". This is the SAME team that won 23 games last year. Weve been down double-digits in every game. There are HUGE components of the team that have players who are QUESTIONABLE in terms of their ability to win. the ONLY guys that I see as keepers are Lee Nate and Q--we SHOULD be 0-8---am I missing a player who is going to bring us to where this franchise needs to go? JJ give me a break--that is insane.

so what kind of team would we have if we kept just lee, q , and nate. Be realistic, this is the team we have unless something major happens at trade deadline.
this team will compete for the final playoff spot. its not as bad as it currently looks right now. i might still be sipping on the kool aid, but i stand by that.

Nate, Lee & Curry have shown improvement & seem to be on the cusp of becoming good NBA players... there have been some positive signs out of Balkman & Collins as well, & Q Rich is playing like an Allstar.

things aren't as bad as you make them out to seem... certainly a few positives can be gleaned from this mess.

Yeah, I mean the team has several solid young players. Curry is not perfect yet, but he looks alot better than last year. Nate, Lee, Collins and Balkman are great hustling players. Q looks great and is playing great defense. We have a good 6th man in Crawford. Really, all this team needs is a good floor leader and better chemistry and we will start winning some games. But this team looks much more potent this year than it was last year. They just have to keep fighting to get over the hump and gain some confidence and chemistry so that they can start winning games in the 4th quarter rather than making costly turnovers. The team definitely will need a few more changes, but this gloom and doom talk as if we have no good players and have to tear everything down is not really valid IMO.

I agree with you, but the question is where do we go from here. We do need veteran leadership and stability and a franchise caliber talent. How do we aquire that if we don't put ourselves in position to do so. No high draft pick and no money under the cap and untradeable vets. How do you get out from this level of mediocrity/crap without these things? Right now it seems like we are operating completely on luck and hoping for the best instead of putting ourselves in position. We have been a laughingstock for 6 seasons now and in that time have had two late lottery picks. Where do we go from here? How do we not waste the improvement of the young players. We wasted an entire season of development last year by telling our guys that it was okay to not try if you don't like the coach. Now we are left praying that our guys play hard and mentor our vets instead of the other way around. It's an odd situation.

unfortunately that's the bed the Knicks made for themselves w/the cap killing moves & signings they made leading up to this point... the best we can do now is to unload the excess fat that is holding this team down from growing as a unit, namely Marbury, Francis & Big Turd, & allowing the rest to gel & building up slowly from there... there's no easy, quick fix solution here... we have to keep developing our young guys & phase out Marbury from this team... i think that's the only realistic way to improve going forward.

I think there are moves we can make that change this into a tougher, more effecient team going forward. We need someone who can SEE THIS and stop this charade of incompetence that has plagued this franchise. We have some pieces, albeit not the type of pieces that can help you without a FRANCHISE type talent in the rhelm. Banking on Curry and Frye for the future will yield poor results. The starting 30mm $ backcourt is sliding into oblivion. JC is streaky and is better used as trade bait. Someone is going to have to say STOP, lets do something else, this isnt working what are we basing this team on??? what can we do to remediate? we'd be so much BETTEr off @ 0-8 lucky wins dont help the situation 0-8 would give the first clear sign and lucky for knick fans the ball bounced our way in the final seconds in those games which really HURTS the team in the scheme of things the faster we relaize total failure the quicker we can start a new path. if they refuse to halt course it CAN hurt things that we can still do NOW to start a changeover.

Stop with the BS playoffs. unlkess 32 wins yields playoffs we wont be seeing them.

uhhh Briggs - I can't agree with you on the better off being 0-8 statement. That only helps the Bulls this year.

Isiah is on his way out the door - I think we all can see that. I would be surprised if he was asked to stay on past December at this point.

The real problem is Dolan will be doing the hiring and we all know he doesnt have an eye for talent or decision making ability.

I feel like I did after the 1999 run. I feel like any type of success will just show that it's okay to stay the course. Even if that success is really just mediocrity in disguise.
I just hope that people will like me

Let me sum this up

We've been down double-digits every game
We are 0-3 at home.
These are the same players that went 23-59 last year.
We do not have a franchise player, nor the ability to acquire one.
Isiah was not shrewd enough to take Bynum over Frye so we would atlesat have something in the bank.
We go on runs when other team let up.
We are profecient in hitting lucky shots.
Eddy Curry has not improved in 4 years and is clearly a huge tier below elite level frontcourt players at a minimum.
Channing Frye=Brian Cook
Jamal--to streaky but good trade bait
Francis marbury washed up
Balkman and Collins should get PT but I guess we are afraid to let them show if they have anything--i mean we just won 23 games-?
Q rich has saved any face to this season
David Lee and nate have been great

Summary--we are not a good team, we dont have a franchise player and really have no ability to acquire 1. Our management does not judge talent well enough and are not savvy deal makers. ATLEAST Scott Layden ATTEMPTED to bring in a true franchise type talent in Mcdyess. Mcdyess in his prime is better than any knick in the last 6-7 years. the present management has brought in inconsistent players from losing franchises and the losing has followed them here. the team lacks fundamentals and has to many soft mental players

We should be 0-8

did i miss something?

we dont need luck to mask any reality right now. 0-8 wouldve made a better statement if we lose oden we lose him hes a non-issue---that was done when we traded for curry
