I don't know much about how Isiah coached at Indiana, but maybe this is just his style? He emphasises the positive. Maybe this is the best approach for our guys, since they are emotionally fragile.

what he says behind closed doors is all that matters to the players but fans go by what is said to the press. so when he keeps making excuses for players and they put up stinkers at the garden, fans will boo and boo hard. all knicks fans ask for is honesty. but sadly, that honesty could hurt the player's fragile psyche. this is a league wide issue, not just here.

Isiah is doing the right thing. I'm sure in the locker room he rips into them. Its just not public. Plyers respond to a coach taking care of them in the press. But they know exactly where they stand with him in the locker room. You guys actually think Isiah isn't all over them for poor performances.

I'd rather have Isiah not insult my intelligence and simply give a 'no comment'

That would be a breathe of fresh air.

Ah, those pesky fans. Why can't they just stay home on game nights instead of going to the garden and ruining everything?

from a poster on another board
Difference between Jeff Van Gundy and Isiah Thomas...

"Coach (Jeff Van Gundy) has told me there are two things that if you do them well, you play well. One of them is rebound, the other is block shots," Yao said. "I think he just wants me to have more energy on the defensive side."

Difference between Yao and Eddy Curry...

"He's a worker," Battier said. "He's the first one at practice every day and he's one of the last ones to leave. A player does not become dominant like he is becoming by watching highlights on ESPN."

Where's Benard?

Curry Supporter and Apologist #1. I'd like to know what he thinks of Curry's body of work so far this season offensively and defensively?

I find it funny how you guys hate when Isiah backs up his players...but then when he had a comment about not being afraid to bench anyone, the first thing you guys did was jump all over him because he said it to the media....NEW YORK you cant have it every which way!

Isiah is not proving anything that he says. No player deserves to be benched more than Frye. Good thing Isiah at least SAID that he'll bench anyone.

Isiah said he'll TRADE anyone too. I guess all the teams that called about Francis found out differently.
