Take players whom have underperformed their contract and feel the burdan of that every day and bring them to NY is not a recipe for success.

Its almost like Shoebury's off season antics of philinthropic genrosity is to garner the affections of the fans.

We just want to see the kid do well and his efforts benefit the team.
Thats his real job! Just do the job your paid to do!

For what it costs to see a game live one needs to feel good.

Knicks IQ Chart - To Sort Out weak minded or sensitive ball players

Crawford - may be streaky but the strong will of a lead dog-defers to Steph unless there's less than 5 seconds left

Marbury - sensitive, protective and playing at home, a bad combination-Supposed to be leader

Lee - tough guy, and just a sophomore-Future Leader

Frye - outstanding character, will adjust to adversity-That has to be shown. So far not to promising.

Malik - tough guy-Agree

Nate - "you talkin' to me?"-Agree

Balkman - wild in the streets, won't back down-Agree

Steve Francis - not a punk-Yet to be shown that he can respond in a positive way to adversity.

Collins - playing for John Chaney is no day at the beach-Agree

Jeffries - sensitive, but he IS 6'11-Inc.

Quentin - lost Brandy and faced his brothers tragic death in the same season, tough as nails to just come to work without breaking down-Totally and completely agree

Jerome James - sensitive guuy in a big body-He's a bitch.

Curry - see above-Isiah had to tell this guy to be mean?!?

Isiah - tough guy-He does keep reminding us every other day.

Problem is, our "leaders" are all the guys who are weak minded.

I think the booing and negative reaction could be affecting them. The fans are much quicker to boo than they used to be. I don't say they don't have the right to boo, and I don't say the should never boo, but I do think they are too quick to boo. However, we need players on thhis team who are tough enough to take it. Once they start winning the boo-birds will go away.

I really wonder about players today - if any of them are tough enough to play in New York. Lookit how they all move to Westchester. I'm not even sure they like the city. Maybe they just can't handle the pressure.

If you can't play well at home because of pressure how are you going to play in the playoffs when there is pressure. I have no doubt that the fans affect our play. It's obvious. But number one this is part of the learning process in NY. YOu don't get credit until you earn it. Play hard like you did last night and the crowd will cheer you. Give up lay-up after lay-up and quit and you will get boo'd.

On a side note: It would have been nice to hear Isiah defending his team like this when Chaney, Wilkens, Herb and LB were here. This just further illustrates the lack of support our coaches have gotten over the year. The same support that Isiah is praying for.

I personally have never been a big fan of booing players. It doesn't help your team win. And it's a way to scapegoat players when everyone is playing poorly. That being said I cannot blame the fans for this response when the team is giving a half-asse effort. We had no business winning last night, but because we played hard we pulled out a win. Teams that play hard get the breaks. We haven't gotten one break at home for the past 2 years because we don't play hard. Fans aren't going to applaud that. SO STOP YOUR BITOCHING A PLAY.
I just hope that people will like me

Those fans in MSG are pretty brutal unfairly at times.

But, either way, this is NEW YORK.

You have to have thick skin to play in this town. If anything, blaming the fans for losses will make them want to boo even more.

History Lesson

What is going on in these days The Garden is more bitter in tone. The crowd expects to lose and is ready to pounce on every mistake as the end of the world.

Or at least the end of Isiah Thomas.

Why is it that people conveniently forget that when the early Red Holzman Knicks were booed for poor performances going INTO a timeout... and Red chaged lineups accordingly .... that the crowd in The Garden ALWAYS cheered them coming OUT of the huddle from the same timeout?

They lifted the team as New Yorkers are famous for. The great roar that drops down from the blue seats ... that would make even djsu shiver with excitement.

And the Knicks team responded in kind with incredible runs of basketball excellence.

Kinda like the fourth quarter run they made last night.

See, here's how I look at it. Right now, Isiah(who as someone pointed out, hasn't named captains yet) needs to do so. IMO, He has to name TOUGH minded individuals (I'd take a look at a combination of Q, Lee, Craw and Malik-pick a trio). This will seriously decrease the pressure on our best (and most weak-minded) players.

Seriously, Steph is a HUGE part of us winning here. So is Curry. Curry is showing me alot of progress.

Come on guys, lets be realistic. Everyone in the organization knows they lost fan support by giving up on themselves last year and with that in mind they send Steve francis out there to promise us the one thing they WILL give us is EFFORT, and then proceed to stand in awe of the Spurs and not give sufficient effort. At some point they should just say nothing and tell us their performance on the court will do the talking and then back it up.

It's not the fans jobs to entertain the team. When did things get so haywire? When MSG starts paying fans to attend games we can then put the burden on fans to perform, but the paying public has a right to see a quality product (by which I mean effort at a bare minimum) and far too often they feel ripped off.

I don't think it;'s fair for teams to expect to have things both ways. You cant want emotionally involved fans and then have a dispassionate team.

It's Scott Layden's fault.

It's Don Chaney's fault.

It's Lenny Wilkens' fault.

It's Larry Brown's fault.

It's the schedule's fault that we'll be bad early in the season.

It's the Knicks fans' fault.

It will be the players' fault very soon.

It's never Isiah's fault.

It's never Dolan's fault.

Got it.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

The solution is simple: ignore the boos and do whatever is necessary to win those fans back.

Keyword: WIN.
