the premise of this post was the reality that malik rose was not/is not part of the plan here OR wasnt supposd to be in ANYWAY. He just happened to show up last night and do some things that help win ballgames. the problem is, we have NO frikin plan. its game to game play to play.

Briggs, that pretty much seems to be the problem. We go in so many different directions at once and we always seem to be contradicting ourselves, it scks. Malik is a good role player to have and if we want him on the Knicks, fine. However, it's been proven that you have to have a team with him that has more offensive prowess than him, b/c he just cannot be the go to guy or anywhere close to that, even though he was great last night. What he is, however, is a leader on the defensive end and somebody who bangs down low and grabs rebounds. He would fit perfectly with the Pistons, and if the Suns are looking for defense, he would be helpful in Phoenix too. A lineup of Nash or Barbosa, Bell, Marion, Rose and Amare could be a pretty solid defensive lineup.

He is NOT useless. He's just shouldn't be in our long term plans if we want to go "Youth all the way." With that said, responsibility still goes to Channing and Eddie for them letting it get to a point that we need to bring Malik Rose in, so he can be the "Savior" even though we didn't win.

i thought Malik Rose was the MVP of the game tonight, even though they lost... his defense on Duncan really propelled the come back when the Knicks made their run.

but what the hell do i know.

do losing teams get MVPs? is that like a moral victory? a moral MVP?

Since when did Malik become a crappy player? He has always been a solid rotation player in my book. If you want to win games right now, there is no question that Malik should be in the rotation. However, if the goal is to develop the young guys as Isiah has said repeatedly, then you give Frye, Lee, and Curry the major minutes with Rose being the 4th bigman off the bench (what we've been doing so far). If Rose got Frye's minutes for those first 4 games, I guarantee you our performance as a team would have been at least a little better (Frye really is hurting us right now). But you got to stick with a plan.

I don't get why some of you think he sucks. He has always been a good role player and he played well last season when he got the minutes. He is a very smart player and he knows his role on the floor awfully well. He can board, play smart D, and his offense isn't bad either.

There is a reason the Spurs had him on their team for a long time.

i said he was the MVP of the game last night, even with a loss... seems clear enough to me what was meant by it... his defense on Duncan really spurred that comeback & Nate's energy carried it through on the offensive end... Marbury started hitting some shots during that stretch & the team got back to within 1... i already said before the season started that i could care less how many games this team wins this year as long as i see them playing w/some passion & show me that they care about how they're representing this city & this franchise... the guys who were on the floor last night in end of the 1st half & the end of the 2nd half showed me they cared, & i'll take a moral victory in that if there is such a thing as one... if you're waiting for this team to beat teams like the Spurs with any regularity or to make the playoffs this year, you're setting yourself up for a very disappointing season my friend.
