Yeah I brought up the fact that more than likely no one took him seriously, it's just that you look for a connection with the statements and then game play.
I think Marbruy's comments have gotten worse since he's been with isiah. isiah wispers things in his ears so he doesn't get down on himself. At some point Steph probably expressed frustration that Kidd gets so much credit in NJ and when will he (setph) get his recognition, and isiah told him "what's he got that you don't have? He ain't got no ring." And "I always felt like I was the best player on the court, even when I went up against Michael, Magic and Bird, a champion has to feel that way." And Marbury likes the way those statements sound, they make Isiah sound wise. But then Marbury, who's proven nothing in his career, goes and makes those statements about himself publicly, and it's just not the same thing.
It's like if someone at work asks "how ya doing, how're those reports coming?" and the person responds "I'm doing super! I'm behind on everything, I haven't begun the reports, my marriage is falling apart, and my finances are in ruin -- but our competitors are losers too, and I still make my mommy and my therapist very proud -- and that's all that really matters. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna put all my worries in a big balloon watch them fly away!"
Oh really?
It's funny if it's a joke but sad when it isn't, and it's surely too much information. To me it shows that Steph doesn't know how to internalize the teachings and mostly wants to sound as cool as the guy he hears it from.
