The whole point of Isiah's offense is to make the team less reliant on one guy and thus Steph isn't going to be the only focus of the offense. Now it goes unspoken that OTHERS aren't holding up their end of the bargain. I think it's a mistake to keep thinking of Steph as the franchise player, when he should be ONE of the best players on the team but not the only good player. This team is gonna have better days and when they do I believe a lot of this talk will die down.

Marbury's team has gone 46-92 since he said it. That's probably got something to do with the criticism.

I don't think anybody really cares what he says, it's just another geeky side show in the circus known as the knicks.

That's a good post. We all know Marbury sucks and I'm actually sick of talking about him. Theres not much else to say, the guy will never change his ways for the betterment of his team and he excels playing with the ball in his hands in a non-team oriented offense.

With that said, I always enjoy reading a good Marbury diss post.

LOL now I will say Steve Francis is looking like he's got some Prime left in him. I just don't understand how a player can't be at his peak at age 29.

Marbury's played 80 games a year and 40 mpg since he was 19. He's probably played more minutes than average players' career lasts.

Gary Payton has more miles
Jason Kidd has more miles
Steve Nash has about the same miles maybe a little less
Sam 2SS 2LL more miles

What's your point? I never said he had more mileage than *every* player at every position in the league!

Yeah I brought up the fact that more than likely no one took him seriously, it's just that you look for a connection with the statements and then game play.

I think Marbruy's comments have gotten worse since he's been with isiah. isiah wispers things in his ears so he doesn't get down on himself. At some point Steph probably expressed frustration that Kidd gets so much credit in NJ and when will he (setph) get his recognition, and isiah told him "what's he got that you don't have? He ain't got no ring." And "I always felt like I was the best player on the court, even when I went up against Michael, Magic and Bird, a champion has to feel that way." And Marbury likes the way those statements sound, they make Isiah sound wise. But then Marbury, who's proven nothing in his career, goes and makes those statements about himself publicly, and it's just not the same thing.

It's like if someone at work asks "how ya doing, how're those reports coming?" and the person responds "I'm doing super! I'm behind on everything, I haven't begun the reports, my marriage is falling apart, and my finances are in ruin -- but our competitors are losers too, and I still make my mommy and my therapist very proud -- and that's all that really matters. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna put all my worries in a big balloon watch them fly away!"

Oh really?

It's funny if it's a joke but sad when it isn't, and it's surely too much information. To me it shows that Steph doesn't know how to internalize the teachings and mostly wants to sound as cool as the guy he hears it from.

Blue LOL @ you doing your Fly On The Wall skits.

How do you gain such privy to these conversations?

Seriously not too far off from what possibly transpires though.

Gary Payton was on the BDSSP the offseason when he signed with the Lakers(03-04). He was asked who the Best Point Gaurd in the game was and he said Stephon Marbury. Ironically that's about the time Steph peaked as a player(heroics in the playoffs against SA) and the statements soon followed thereafter.
