I wonder what his body fat was last year when he was abusing Curry in practice.

Some people get fat because of stress.
He probably get a lot of stress after last season with Knicks and the attitude he get from THIS organization and IT after playing hard and makin progress.
He is now in Pop boot camp and this will get corrected soon.

Popovich said of Jackie Butler, the 6-10 former Knick. "I'm more concerned with getting him in shape and showing him what it takes to compete at the highest level."

Butler was with Brown for a year. Why was he not in shape and why didnt he learn last year what it takes to compete? To me this is a dig /or should be a dig at Brown.

WTF? It's a dig at Butler for not staying in shape.

Ok bottom line its Butler who got a big contract and its his responsibility to come into camp in shape(sounds like jerome james) but the 2nd comment about teaching him what it takes to compete---he spent a FULL YEAR with Brown--WHAT did he learn last year?? why didnt Brown teach him what it takes to compete??
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

LB was teaching.
He sad to Batler - "Sit here on the bench and see how this lazy booms will lose game after game because thay refuse to play defence and give an effort".
Also young player Batler was looking at JJ and Curry and sad to himself "Why I will put any effort. This 2 guys are not giwing a gamm, not trying to stay in shape, and still are getting millons in contracts. NBA is cool"

He didn't look fat at all. He didn't look ripped like Ben Wallace but he didn't look bad either. If he's at 29% now, he must have doubled his % fat in the offseason, which means he probably did zero exercising and ate tons of crappy food as soon as he got that long-term contract.

Ariza is coming off an injury, as Elite pointed out. Butler, not sure why he's not playing. Reggie Evans isn't playing either, yet we all, rightfully so, were very high on him.

Regardless, if you can't bother to do a little research before bashing Ariza for being benched, when he's in fact injured, then you really can't be qualified to make a good argument about it, can you?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Butler probably needs more time to get used to the Spurs system and also get used to running back hard on D all the time, which he probably didn't do a whole lot of along with the rest of the team last year.

Are you serious with this? Are you making excuses for Butler? He signed a big contract and it was up to him to work out this summer and come into camp in the best shape of his life.

I read in an article that the Spurs aren't worried about Butler for right now and just want him to develop in practice with Duncan and company and that he'll get his time if he continues to work. Just remember, the Spurs aren't a rebuilding team, this is a team that's contending for a championship year after year and they've developed very good talent along the way. They know what they're doing with Jackie Butler.

If he's got 30% body fat, he's a DISASTER--a $7 mil version of Jerome James, only fatter.

They said he's down to 19. though. He's making progress and he's definitely not Jerome James. Did you see him last season? He was solid in limited minutes.
