It never ceases to amaze me how some guys just REFUSE to give steph credit when he plays good D. The guy actually DID play good D tonight. Does he have to be a top defensive player in the league in order to give him some credit for playing harder and smarter? It just never ends with some people!!!

I would if he did but he didn't so I won't.

His defense wasn't as horrendous as it normally was (then again he wasn't exploited by the pick and roll all game). He played better than he normally plays but it is still not good defense. Some shots he gave a half ass attempt to just put his arms up. He still lost his man. The Knicks playe some zone tonight so the pressure on him was even less to a degree. He is just not a good defensive player.

He's like Allan Houston(Silver, savor this moment, it won't happen again for a LONG time), but just because he played better defense than he normally plays, doesn't necessarily mean you can judge it to be any more than average overall.

Did he play better than he normally does-sure, there were no pick and roles to exploit him-but that doesn't mean he played good D.

SeatsBlue- I've been a Marbury fan since HS. Played aganist him once at the public school exposure camp senior yr in HS. Always wanted to see him come back home and play at the garden (especially after Strickland and Mark were traded and we hadn't had an exciting pg since).

With that said, I'll be the first to admitt, that it hasn't worked out the way I thought it could. All of it isn't is fault. The team around him just isnt that good. But some of it is his fault because as a pg your are supposed to elevate the games of the players around you. and his attitude could also use a major adjustment. Even as a Marbury supporter, I cringe whenever they put a mic in front of him. I hated the "all alone" on his sneakers in Jersey. The fact that a lot of teamated don't like him tells me that thier is something wrong with his personality and surly ways. I admitt when he is wrong or plays a bad game. I call it how I see it. Looking back, getting Marbury was probably a mistake.

I call it how I see it. I just don't think you call it how you see it all the time. Even when he has a deceant game, you find soemthing else to pick at. His sneakers, tats etc. Just call it how you see it thats all.

I see a basketball player that doesn't give it his all for 4qrts. He plays like crap the first 3 qrts, particularly the first 2. His team is always in a hole, he doesn't have any command on the floor and the dude just doesn't play D. He'll get an occasional strip here and there but overall he's a very bad defender and a passionless player.

How pathetic. You got a team that just doesn't care. Theres about 3 players on this team that actually care about the outcome of the game that they are playing in. QRich, Crawford, Nate, Lee. Everyone else is just a piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit anywhere and never will fit ANYWHERE.

Your right, I missed him in my post. It's now edited to include him. My mistake.

I thought Marbury had one of his best bames this year.

We did not loose because of him, we lost because we don't playa any TEAM defense, and because Curry got punked by Yao.

Oh and Frye continues to struggle, I'm beginning to worry about him.

On the bright side, w/out Francis we are def playing better. Q is the mvp so far, I think when Jeffries comes back we'll start him and Q with Marbury and that will improve both our defense and rebounding.

I wish IT was not the coach, his presence just takes the joy out of it. I'm rooting for the players, but IT is making really hard.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I started early on it and had a hunch it would come in handy every game this season. It's truly ridiculous.
