let me also mention, the players don't need the cheering but it helps. I think thats what he is trying to do.

Jeff Van Gundy was flat out challenging his team to rebound. He did that all the time. He never said though "I'm prepared to lose this game. I can understand if the guys are tired. It's no big deal. We're all human."

Isiah should be saying: "Hey, we're tired, but hey, we're pros, it comes with the territory. We'll be running right with the Pacers tonight."

why is he even talking about being "tired"?

BS...total BS...how can people get behind this guy?
because there is a chance he could be yelling at the guys in the locker room! Because he could be challenging them behind closed doors. I think calling him out on what he says to the media is bs.

so why even bring it up? why even talk about "lack of energy"? it makes no sense.
Because he wants the fans to root hard so that the players can feed off it.

then he's insulting ny knick fans intelligence.

These are the same players that were so sensitive to LB being hard on them. You think Isiah is ripping them behind closed doors? Isiah knows if he loses the players like every other coach that they've had, he's gone. These players, Isiah's players, are still running the asylum.

Isiah's pathetic attempt at managing expectations is all about Isiah trying to save his job and not wanting the added pressure of the MSG crowd chanting "Fire Isiah".

Don't bring up JVG, he would NEVER use the excuse that his players might be tired and suggest that they might not win. I don't know many coaches that would.

Nalod, umm thanks, I think.

SIlver, so far Isiah has flat out said that we "may" not be good this year. He has said that we didn't do anything wrong after blowing a 19 point lead(when you blow a 19 point lead to a team giving heavy minutes to 2 rookies and without it's star, you did something wrong). He has now said we may lose a game.

Silver, I am 25 yrs. old. I have been watching basketball and understanding and playing basketball for somewhere around 15 years(this is not a call out or anything just saying in all my years watching basketball)and I have NEVER hear a coach say we may lose a game.
Dude, you are really nitpicking here. I remember Van Gundy saying "we will lose becasue we cannot rebound" etc plenty of times. I'll look for the quotes later just to prove it to you cuase I know for sure you will not remember them. Isiah also said "we are going to be tired so we will need the crowds engery" not "we suck we are going to lose" etc so why dont you say something about that? Its obvious you dont like him but dont tell me he is a bad coach because you dont like what he says to the newspapers. What next, his shirt?

Find something real to call him out on and you will not see me argue with you. The last few times we locked horns was Isiah saying something to Greg Anthony an now Isiah saying something about us being tired. SugarRay said it best, he is managing expectation. Take it easy with this stuff. Isiah isnt saying we are going to lose tonite. He said we need the players energy. Really joe!

There is a difference in saying "we will lose if we don't rebound", and saying "we may lose this game." I am only saying this is getting pretty stupid with all these excuses Silver. Really, do you think any good team has to have stuff like this said to the media-whether it's meant or not?

You have a problem with him in general so I usually dont get worked up about your posts but not joe. I think they were annoyed at being ripped in the Media. Iverson had the same problem with LB. It took him years to get over it. And I would have had a lot more respect if LB had stayed around to coach. Also, its not the type of excuse, its the excuse. joec wanted to know what other coach expected the team to lose for whatever reason. Hey, if he can nitpick, so can I. Of course I don't like Isiah saying this but I aint using this as a reason to not like him as a coach.

Not gonna lie. I'm going to the game tonight and it doesn't exactly get me fired up when I see our coach telling the fans that we might stink tonight. There's so much negativity to this team right now and perhaps it MIGHT be better to come out and say "We're going to come out tonight and lay it all out there. We may not win, but we'll play our hardest and put on a show for the fans".

Oh I agree there is a difference but you asked for what coach expected to lose for whatever reason. Isiah says we will lose cause we are tired. Another way of saying the same thing is, we will lose if there isn't enough effort. Would you rather him say that? Ok fine. But thats not what makes him a bad coach. Not forcing the guards to feed Eddy in the paint, not running pick and rolls, double teaming late..that stuff makes him a bad coach.
Really, do you think any good team has to have stuff like this said to the media-whether it's meant or not?
Wait a second, you think we are a good team? is that what you are saying? I think this is a bad team so I wouldn't compare them with a good team. Your expectations are so high because your evaluation of the team is wrong.

Silver, I LIKE Isiah as a coach. Or LIKED. I've said before I like him as a coach than as a GM by a wide margin. I am not sure yet on what the hell he is doing. I am certainly not into these excuses he keeps spreading. Regardless of what he is saying behind closed doors. By saying these things he is furthering the perception of the mentally weak, players in need of coddling stereotype most of our players have-whether it is true or not.

If this is a bad team, Isiah should be restoring confidence in his players, like he claims he is. Not by saying "We might stin tonight. Prepare for the storm, NY fans, b/c it's a real rough road ahead of us." If I were a Knicks player, I would be insulted that this would be my coach.

I've said this again and again. We have the pure TALENT to win 50 games. Problem is the talent doesn't fit and the players are constantly getting a pass. And the best player we have talent wise-who has the ability to be one of the best at his position is so mentally weak he has to contnually have his ass wiped by his "best friend" all the while stating how great he is but never showing it.

He is preparing fans for a loss because they are tired Silver. So far the only meaningful things that Isiah has said are the excuses he is making for this team.

When your "Best player." is sitting down in 4th quarters (Hey, LB did that to him too!!) then it's scary. How come my countdown till Isiah getting fired dissapeared?

See joe, thats the kinda stuff I agree with. The talent doesn't fit. Should have forced the trade for Jalen and Francis. Curry needs to be meaner! Thats stuff I'll talk about day and night, and I have a feeling I'll agree with you 95% of the times. But 'Isiah shouldn't say we'll be flat' or 'Isiah shouldn't say stuff to Greg Anthony' etc is really nitpicking. And you know what joe, I really like talking basketball with you. I like our trade scenarios etc so I just want to make it clear what side of the fence I am on.

Here is my point. Everyone is wired different. You say, "the guys should show more effort" will have a different effect on players. Same with "we could be flat tonight."

Hahaha! Joe, thats your interpretation. I really don't see it that way but let me ask you this, do you expect us to win tonight? I as a fan didn't and neither did any of the other Knick fans I know in person. We are hoping for a win but realistically we expect a loss against the Pacers. What Isiah says doesn't prepare me for ****! I hope you give the fans more credit. I think he just wants the crowd to bring energy. What Isiah says etc doesn't have an effect fans like you and me. If it has an effect on other fans, nothing we can do.
