Knicks paid over $30mm for Balkman. Great job... I'm sure there was no better way to use those assets.

Well, they may have to pay $50 million for LB. Given that Balkman looks like a player that will stick, and LB was a total disaster that set this franchise back at the very least one year, I think the $30 million was a bargain.

I am agaist cutting/buying out Rose. I don't know why the Knicks just didn't hold on to him for the KG factor trade. That's the ONLY reason I would have held his contract.

I second that.

Honestly...I would have kept both. Not just for the contracts (I wouldn't have used them unless its for KG) but because I believe they can still contribute in limited roles..

Mo Taylor is a very good post up player and J.Rose CAN play three positions (1, 2 & 3). Maybe I.Thomas was just doing them a favor so they can land on a team that will play them consistently....or maybe he wants the open roster spot to sign another rook from the Summer team. Who knows.

Is this more Isiah's doing or Dolan tightening the money faucet? Seems to me it's more of the latter.

Plan to sabatoge the Knicks. Isiah is purposely tanking in his tenure to destroy the Knicks.

What are you talking about? If you badmouth players to the media and hurt their feelings so much that they completely quit on the team, that's destroying a franchise.

If you just add hundreds of millions of dollars for underachieving players, trade away multiple lottery picks and make the organization a complete laughingstock, that's just part of the plan.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

How can you not see this buyout as part of a plan. You just don't have the intellectual ability to see where the plan is going. Making a trade for a player you don't need and then buying him out a year later is part of an extensive plan. One that fits in perfectly with paying 75 billion dollars to a coach that you buy out a year later. Thanks are going according to plan you just can't see it.

a good GM could have used Rose. I'm glad Isiah waived him. Isiah and expiring contracts go together like John Carr and kid beauty pagents... just not a good pairing. Go let Isiah focus on coaching the roster he's built, and get away from the distraction of all the exciting disasters he can create w/ Rose's expiring deal.

It is official:

New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Isiah Thomas announced today that the team has waived guard/forward Jalen Rose. In four preseason games, the 12-year NBA veteran averaged 10.5 minutes.

The roster stands at 14.

Damn too bad it didnt work out. J Rose really conducted himself like a pro. I hope he lands on a good team and finishes his career in a positive way. He deserves it.

Well, there goes our "valuable expiring contract trade comodity" that we were going to use to get an impact player with at the Allstar break.

Antonio Davis for Jalen Rose... what a complete & utter waste of a trade that turned out to be... we took on an extra year of max salary & let go 1 of the only leaders this team had last season, only to buy out the extra year for nothing in return this year... brilliant!

i wonder what other genius like trades Isiah has up his sleeve for this season... i can't wait.

oh wait, that's right... it was all LB's fault.
