Channing Frye is a tweener, he's a college west coast center=soft

Frye would play better on a team that thinks team on offense and defense.

Frye's mental makeup has been programmed to play one way, the problem will be everybody in the league knows his weaknesses now.

Trade him now !

As you can see Collins ONLY played center last year, and Krstic only played center when Collins was out of the game, the majority of his minutes at PF. Glad I could clear that up for you.

Playa... Frye isnt soft, but he's got his limitations. He performed well in the pressure of the tourneys, played hurt had some monster performances. He's a scoring center... plain and simple. Make him into something else and problems occur, like getting toasted by Krstic and Webber, fouling out and having no idea where is guy is to put a body on him.

Frye is coming off an injury. People forget that. Frye will be a solid PF in this league. It may not be this year but eventually he will be an 18ppg-9rpg player.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

why? He's probably never played PF in his life. 4 years at Ariz as a center, in a conference soft for bigmen.

This is not a knock.. just an observation. Why try to force him into something he's probably not?

What you played in colege doesnt mean you are that in the nba. Kurt Thomas was a center. Anthony Mason was a sg who took a bunch of 3 point shots. Bernard King was a power fwd. Frye is not strong enough to play many Centers defensively and his offensive game is much more like a PF. He likes the outside game much more than being down in the post. I'm not satying he cant play some Center. Tim Duncan plays both but prefers to play PF. He has played 95% of his games at PF but in college he was a center often. The guys in college are much shorter and not as strong. Its not unusual for guys that played center in college to play pf in the nba or guys that played pf in college to play sf in the nba.

IMO: Frye is a better player but Lee fits in better. Who cares as long as Frye can be effective. Krstic plays with a better PG, an elite SG and a great SF. Its easy for him to get open when Frye and Curry have to worry about Vince, RJ etc getting in the lane and dunking. Frye will be fine. Lets see him play against other teams. I'm sure he'll be ok.

Frye will be fine. He needs time and patience though. Thats it. Right now he is in a rut.

Should've traded Frye when we had the chance. Now we're stuck with Rasho Nesterovic part 2

I thought it was Larry Brown screwing with Frye's head last yr, now with him still in a fog is it Isiah's screwing with his head ??

No it's frye mental makeup. He's a tweener and doesn't know how to fit in with this guard dominated offense.

He has skillz but they're suited for a differnt type of team.

A team that doesn't rely on him to play traditional PF and C.

that may be the case but there seems to be an assumption around here that making the transition to PF is trivial. Why isnt 6'11 270 big enough for center? Its more plausable to have Frye add girth and strength at this point that somehow come up with more speed.

Did you see him *try* to stay with Webber?

I'm just talking about putting our young guys in a position to suceed. Frye at PF is failing to do that

isiah's an idiot. he left this team with frye and lee to man the pf spot. two 2nd year players. and no real veterans to help out. do you know how much pressure that is on a kid like frye? especially in an ultimatum year when isiah's fate is in their hands. you can clearly see frye feeling it. his defense is still atrocious but you can see the kid's confidence is shot.

we should've held on to mo b/c he was our best PF (and that hurts me to say that but it was true). malik should be activated to help out.

He's a tweener, the guy is too slow or not strong enough to play either positions PF-C-SF

He did pretty well in transition last year and in summer league. I'm not giving up on the kid yet, Isiah (or whoever our coach may be) needs to figure out how to use him (pick-n-pop?), but he's gonna be one of our better players. He's not good on D, but he'll be a decent help defender and weakside shot blocker.

I still think he is capable of spot duty there, on offense he would be fine, on defense he hurts...just like at PF and at C.
