I don't care for Cato's game but it really isn't a bad move...its an insurance signing and if he has to play, he will be able to contribute at least a little bit, whereas I don't think Miller or Skita can really contribute when the real games start.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Cato just came off some injuries. I don't understand this one. Cato is a good shot blocker and rebounder, at least he used to be. When healthy he is servicable. Dunno if he fits.

Actually I like the move-even though as one guy put it what about James-and maybe this means buy out or trade somehow.

However for all the guys that wanted Pittsnoggle, this signing can probably be traced right back to the fact that Isiah needs to win now to save himself.

Yes, Isiah will actually sacrifice the future of the Knicks to save his job!

It's more than just trying to save his job. This team can't have another season of big losses. He has to get this teams confidence up and win games. This move doesn't change the fact that most of the guys who are in the rotation are our younger players. Outside of Steph and Francis, the other key players are all 26 and under. Cato just fills in for James and in no way changes the dynamics of the team. It does give us more depth in the froncourt. When fully healthy we're gonna be one of the deepest teams in the league.

Actually, IMO he fits perfectly...much better than James at the position-if for no other reason he is a solid force down low on defense. I have wanted him here for a while and was hoing we got him with Francis.

I know I am not the only one noticing this but why is it Isiah can make some great signings for the LLE and minimums(Butler, Woods, Cato, Dermarr Johnson, even Skita to a degree) but he can't do crap with the bigger money amounts like the MLE(James, Baker, possibly Jefferies if RBalkman makes him obsolete)?

I understand all of this and I am not knocking Isiah, I feel Cato is a very good move that seems a bit underrated right now. But Cato is much better for the now while Pittsnoggle or someone like that would have been better for the future of the team. Just like drafting Balkman was better for the now, and Jefferies was better for the now than drafting a guy like Ager or whatever and signing Butler and Woods and Ariza would have been much better for the future.

Isiah said way back that he wouldn't sacrifice the future for the now(which most of us saw through at the time) and that is exactly what he did. No knocking, no dissing, no ripping, it is just a fact that this is the way things are working.

It's okay, he'll be getting LLE money at the most. He's imminently cuttable.

Cato is a good pickup. People used to rag on him because he had a huge contract, but for what I'm assuming is the minimum, he's a fine backup C and a defensive presence.

Does anyone think Curry is motivated enough to actually learn from this guy?

He was motivated enough to come into camp in better physical condition.

Good pick up...You need a guy like that to bump Curry and Frye in practice...They need to learn to play physical without getting into foul trouble and there is no one to really body them in practice...So it's a serviceable signing...
