Dude said Balkman reminds him of Richard Jefferson. And he said it with a straight-face, at that. There is nothing about Balkman that reminds you of Richard Jefferson.

I just don't understand it sometimes ...

Balkman does remind me of RJ. And Mardy Collins reminds me of Magic Johnson as well, lol. :)

At least I'm not the maniac that compared Marcus Williams to magic.

When Jefferson first came in he wasn't the player he is now. I stand by what I said. Josh Howard is another guy I would compare him to.

Marbs says he reminds him of scottie pippen.

How good he will be depends on how much he can improve and how much the knicks allow him to display on the court.

Balkman if anything is the player we wanted ariza to be. Hopefully balkman can reach the level of some of the people mentioned.

Next year we should really know what we have, duh! I'm just not afraid to say it.

I'm just joking dont take offense. I dont see him anything like RJ but Isiah is out of his head thinking Balkman is Pippen. He probably said that just to get under Pippens skin.

Balkman's got better offensive awareness than most give him credit for. He may not be a great shooter, but he won't be a liability because he work off the dribble, pass and finish.

The Anthony Bonner comparison is about right. Balkman is a hustle guy. A role player. He can have a nice career being that but guys like him are a dime a dozen. If he's lucky he'll be a journeyman in this league. If not, he'll bounce around a little bit and then head to Europe.

I agree with islesfan's assessment.

Enyspree, Balkman does not remind you of Richard Jefferson. Now or then. Your assessment sounds ludicrous. That's just like me saying Balkman reminds me of Jordan -- the Jordan in high school. Man, come on now. Stop it. Please stop it.

I understand we are all Knick fans, but at some point in time we have to stop with this insanity.

Yeah, Balkman has few similarities to RJ at this point. At this point in his career comparisons to Jerome Williams and Dennis Rodman type players are much more valid. Its good that hes getting off to a good start tho. What do people usually say when a rook starts rusty and makes mistakes? Hes going to get better.

And I think that that applies to The BalkMan as well. Hell get better as time goes by and who nows, maybe in a couple of years hell be comparable to good players who aent known simply for rebounding and hustle.

He never willl be Jefferson, but he still has skills, which he can use to be an impact player if he can develop a decent shot from 10 to 15 feet out.

Balkman does have some skill though. He isn't all hustle.

Im willing to admit though. With watching Collins sit the bench. That Isiah should have drafted Williams at 20 & Balkman at 29. Though Isiah says that he was scared that Suns were going to take Balkman.

But Williams could have sat the bench like Collins is doing for 2yrs and we would have Williams and Balkman. In the future like some of you have said. I was hopeing Collins would make an impact but he is a deer in headlights. Maybe he gets it together later on in the yr. And becomes the big defensive gerneral he was drafted to be.

impact

2 a : to have a direct effect on
______

There is a distinction between a superstar, who can take over a game, and a player that can have an impact or an effect on the outcome of a game, by changing the tempo, or by helping his team ramp up their defensive intensity, by making a few key stops or getting a few steals at critical moments of the game.

That is Balkman's potential, imo, and that is what I meant when I said he could be an impact player.

No one else wants to say it; so I guess I will. Carmelo definitely does not belong in that group!

Carmelo has only won an NCAA, has been more clutch than Lebron and Wade, and only had the best showing at the World Championships.

They haven't hyped Carmelo. That may be the problem

Carmelo needs the NY hype machine behind him. Denver's isn't getting it done.

I think Balkman is alot more than simply a hustle player. I agree there are plenty of hustle guys in the league. However, there are not alot of hustle guys that actually have skill. Balkman is a skilled player. He has the handles and the basketball IQ to run the fastbreak like a point guard and can beat his man off the dribble in one-on-one situations. He is a shot blocker and solid defensive player. Plus, he rebounds on both ends. If this kid adds a jumpshot to his game, he has the potential to be a very solid player. IMO he is far more than a journeyman role player.

In the 2 pre-season games I saw he has already surpassed malik roses level. I also think he has does have a chance to be a star.

We have played in 3 preseason games and Malik was a pretty good player for the spurs for years. He didnt get handed 8 mill a year from the cheap Spurs for nothing

Dude we have played 3 pre-season games BUT only 2 were on tv. Therefore i saw 2. Get the math. I don't mind going out on the limb and telling what I think. The proof will be in 2-3 yrs. No one knows the future. What did people think about Rodman after 3 pre-season games?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

After three pre-season games, people thought Rodman should dye his hair and get more tats.
