a serious lotteryb talent with the best passing ability I have seen since Magic Johnson.

yo briggs you say some obserd **** sometimes

Ive been watching basketball for over 30 years. Marcus Williams is the best instictive passer I have seen since Magic Johnson. What is absurd about that? Ive seen him play 50+ times--this is not like giving the ball to karl malone 20 times a game or padding stats playing up tempo--this guy is a unique talent from a passing perspective.

I don't think it was Zeke for Oak. Wasn't it Zeke for Tony Campbell? Basically, the same package we ended up using to acquire Derek Harper.

Nope. Isiah for Oak. Isiah even said he wouldnt wnat to play on a Knicks team that didnt have Oak.

Are you well sir? Did your mama not tell you she loved you when you were a child or something? Some here my take your quote along with the retarded statements you make as proof of child abuse in your past. Did dear old dad put you in the closet for punishment?

Son, PUT THE FLIPPIN B-O-N-G DOWN! MW in the same sentence with Magic.... the boy that cried wolf I tell ya.

I thought it was almost like he was taking a shot at former Knicks in general with this part. Like former Knicks are less loyal than these other teams.
But for a guy who claims to have been a Knick, to treat the Knicks the way he treated us that night ... I know a Piston would never do that. A Celtic would never do that. A Laker would never do that. It wouldn't happen. It just goes to show you what we're dealing with."

Jan 24, 1994
The New York Knicks recently acquired veteran guard Derek Harper from the Dallas Mavericks for Tony Campbell and a 1997 first-round draft pick.

PRO BASKETBALL; Thomas to Knicks Reported

Isiah Thomas has become the newest and hottest candidate to fill the Knicks' point guard slot vacated by the injured Doc Rivers. Although Knicks President Dave Checketts said last night that "nothing is lined up on the table" with the Detroit Pistons, a report in a Detroit newspaper said the Pistons would deal the veteran star to the Knicks this week, if Thomas said he wanted to leave after meeting with the club's owner, William Davidson, perhaps as soon as today.

Times Select Content BASKETBALL; Knicks' Deal Looks Done In: Thomas Says He Prefers Pistons
By CLIFTON BROWN

According to a person close to Isiah Thomas, the veteran point guard has decided to remain with the Pistons, ruling out a possible trade to the Knicks. After meeting last night with the Pistons' owner, Bill Davidson, Thomas apparently will be accommodated financially in some way by Davidson, perhaps with a new contract featuring a one-year balloon payment. Thomas has long expressed a desire to end his career with the Pistons, and he has numerous business interests in Michigan. Thomas was intrigued by the opportunity of joining a contender like the Knicks, but apparently has decided it would be best to remain with the Pistons.

It's called being a journalist. If you are a player for a team and then become a journalist and refuse to say anything negative about that team because you used to play for them, you have no integrity and shouldn't be a journalist in the first place.

If he had been a responsible journalist, he would have known the pick didn't suck. Instead, he went off like a bunch of the dimwits who were here draft night. You look at that telecast and tell me he had journalistic poise or showed an ounce of professionalism. He didn't and he wasn't being a journalist he was being a commentator. Learn the difference, know the difference and don't make the mistake again.

i remember anthony did radio for us one season (like 3 years ago) but soething happened and he didn't return. maybe he's holding some ill will but i suspect he's trying to get into our front office. he's a smart guy but how that translates into running a bball team is unknown.

isiah should've just let the comments go. but he's got too much of an ego and pride. some like that bravado. i don't. as a front office exec, he threatened to beat up bill simmons on the radio. this is a PRESIDENT of bball operations. act like it.

It might work wonders though. He is a coach too now and he is defending the player he picked. I kinda like it after watching all the Knick players getting ripped last season by their own coach. I dont know how it will work but I am willing to wait and see.

Chris Paul is a different type of PG. He uses his extreme quickness and speed to set up his game. He has more of an all-around game/[i.e defense] talent because of his physical abilities, but Marcus is the first guy I can remember other than J Kidd and Magic who is dangerous at 94 feet and in with the ability to see the whole court and excute a pass from anywhere. Im not saying he's the best PG since Magic, Im saying he's on par with Magic and J Kidd in the passing dept.

Seriously, If I were Zeke and Greg questioned me...I too would be pissed..Greg had always been a good communicator even as a player..but his judgement and on the court antics never match what came out of his mouth...I'm not sure about him being a GM either...You speak well so therefore a good GM?? Hmmmm...

If they could do that, with all certainty, wouldn't all journalists then make the best general managers? You make no sense. GM's are more privy to players info (oh, I don't know, because they view the private workouts, talk to coaches, anyone involved in a pick's life, have all the records...). Once again. You make no sense. A journalist's job is not to make decisions for the team. That's the GM's job (or in Isiah's case the prior GM's and coach's job since he seems to just do what they were trying to do). And don't say well then he shouldn't have said anything since he didn't know as much-unless you don't plan on posting anything about draft workouts, potential draft picks, or the like around draft time. Journalists are opinion givers. It is actually more alarming Isiah seems to hit the rag more than most when he is criticized publically.
You look at that telecast as tell me he had journalistic poise or showed an ounce of professionalism.
So in other words you never watch ESPN-the bastion of journalistic integrity that it is?
He didn't and he wasn't being a journalist he as being a commentator. Learn the difference, know the difference and don't make the mistake again.
If your so down with this professionalism stuff-exactly what was so professional about Isiah taking personal swipes at Anthony when all Anthony did was criticize a draft pick....?
Oh, hold up-Isiah said it so it has to be ok!

Paul's gift is that he make his passes look easy...he is very good at getting the ball where a player is most effective...You can't teach that...I haven't seen enough of Marcus' game to make that judgement but few players have that talent...If he's one of them then 21 plus teams missed that part of his game as well...Gift like what you are discribing goes alot quicker than 22...

I didn't say what Isiah said was professional, I said it was funny. And again, Greg Anthony is not a journalist, it is not what he was trained to do and it is not what he does, so stop confusing the issue. A good journalist, like, say Tyler Kepner, would known who the players were before the draft, if it only meant talking to scouts. Anthony could have done that, and he could have gotten off his ass and tracked down some tapes of the star of the Florida draft camps. But, no, he was being an irresponsible commentator, and now, like so many others, he looks like an idiot. Now, what Zeke did may not be popular with people who think he shouldn't say anything, but I bet the Knicks like that he stood up for one of their own and was bragging on his player. And that, I would bet, more than any other reason, was why Isiah went off. Larry Brown spent last season throwing all of them under the bus, and this is MUCH BETTER.

It was brought up before that he was out of shape and that laptop thing hit hard. I remember the draft(I took off from work to watch it-yeah, I'm THAT lame-but I remember counting the teams and after pick like 14, no team had a real need at PG-

12-Hornets-Paul
13-Bulls-Hinrich, Gordon, Duhon
14-Utah-DeRon
15-Hornets-Paul
16-Philly-Could have used him but have Iverson, Iggy can play the 2, also have Willie Green-PG wasn't a priority-Drafted Carney
17-Indy-Have Tinsley and Sasha-who they signed to a biggish contract-Tinsley is a borderline All-Star if he can stay healthy.-Drafted Shawne Williams.
18-Washington-Arenas
19-Sacremento-Bibby, In a win now mode. Reached for Quincy douby about 10 picks early.
Then us at 20.
