Not one serious post reply in this entire thread. This forum has lost its luster

Sad indeed. If we can't be serious about Jerome's sore foot, what can we be serious about?

This is not so much a shot about James and his injuries but about the Knicks medical staff.

It don't cost a dime to learn how to read.

Well you're not supposed to joke about cancer, so we could be serious about Marbury.

Ask any person diagnosed with cancer if they care about how many points Stephon Marbury scores.

The idea that doctors know what they are doing is grossly oversold.

I agree with the ideal of doctors knowing what they are doing as being overrated. We live in a society where we gather respect for Doctors, Lawyers, Politicians, etc.

But after years and years of reading about negligence on the part of doctors, it has to now be accepted that they make mistakes. Even grave mistakes

Maybe the doctors ate too many Big Macs and couldn't concentrate on properly diagnosing Jerome's injury

it's hard to diagnose JJ when he keeps eating your stethoscope, yongue depressors, x-rays, etc?

I still don't think the doctors have it right.

Knowing Jerome I'd guess his real foot problems come from the gout.

Many still believe that gout is caused by a combination of dietary factors and "laziness". In particular, many believe that gout develops following several years of excessive alcohol consumption combined with an ongoing lack of physical activity and a diet completely lacking in purine-neutralising foods, such as berries, as well as other specific fruit and vegetables.

It's moot, mostly I'm joking because gout does generally affect the foot, and is alcohol and rich foods based, but...

Those you allude to are viral and/or infectious diseases. They are eradicated through somewhat different means, like vaccines, antibiotics, plus bettered immune systems via improved hygiene and standards of living, etc.

Gout is largely genetic and largely diet based. I'm sure it's incidence is down from what it used to be because of todays focus on proper eating and nutrition. Still:

Incidence and Prevalence
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), gout affects approximately 2.1 million people in the United States and is more common in men between the ages of 40 and 50. In women, incidence increases after menopause. The condition is rare in children and young adults.

Regularly drinking alcohol interferes with the removal of uric acid from the body and can increase the risk for developing gout. Other risk factors include the following:

-Exposure to lead in the environment
-High dietary intake of rich foods that contain purine (e.g., cream sauces, red meat, sardines, liver, scallops)
-Medications that may interfere with the body's ability to remove uric acid (e.g., aspirin, diuretics, levodopa [used to treat Parkinson's disease])

I have two words for you all: Medical Exception.

I think that the medical exemption is for the same injury not allowing someone to play. Jerome has been injured about 9,957 different ways.

This is the same injury that ended Glen Rice's career.

Point being? In order to get a medical exemption, the player has to be proven not to be able to play over a period of time. And it has to be one injury, you don't get a M.E. for being injury prone.

Point being: maybe this is the one. When did I ever say that he would get an M.E. for being injury prone? I am just hoping this one knocks him out for good!

Misunderstanding then. It looked like you were hoping for that to happen this year.
