The players will not perceive Marbury as captain unifying, the will perceive it as another instance of undue entitlement because of his unnatural relationship with Isiah. Those who dislike Marbury now, or feel he has powers and permissions beyond his worth, will only feel continued and furthered resentment going forward.

But who cares, this is isiah's team; always has been. It's his do right or wrong by as he sees fit. As Dolan says, he made his bed so let him lie in it. That's giving Isiah just enough rope to hang himself, and giving this team over to Steph has been as close to suicidal as it gets.

Marbs is to team unity what Hitler was to humanitarianism
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

Tri-Captains will be:
Marbury, Crawford, Q Rich

Sidenot: Jamal Crawford has easily become my favorite Knick. I don't know what it is about the guy, becuase I hated him 2 years. I think it must be from last year when he pushed through all the media garbage surrouding the team and clearly made himself a more rounded player. He's just a hard worker. JCraw should be the ONLY captain.

Isiah is creating an environment where anyone wearing the blue and orange is flipping up a middle finger at the nay-sayers. They are out to prove everyone wrong. With that type of mentality Id be shocked if Marbs isn't named one of the captains. In fact, Id be dissapointed if Isiah didn't name Marbs one of the captains. It would go against his battle cry and his vision of team unity.

Marbury and team unity have nothing to do with each other. Never have, never will.

"Two things I wanted to work on when we came down here - their confidence mentally and making sure they leave here solidified as a unit," Thomas said.

Isiah seems to think otherwise.

Actually that just says that Isiah knows its been a problem not that he thinks differently

Who doesn't know that unity was a problem last yr? I didn't copy the article in its entirity, but in it, Isiah pretty much says that he accopmlished everything he set out to accomplish during the 5-7 days in Charlston. And uniting the team was one of them.

"I'm making sure we leave here solidified as a unit," said Thomas, who will name team tri-captains before the start of the season.

hopefully, thats a little more clearer.

Knicks don't have any legit leaders yet. There shouldn't be any captains. The only leader should be Isiah, for better or worse.

For what, mentioning this board I guess?

Thinking back now, how odd that you would recently mention my suspension when it came from the hands of the same that, seemingly anyway, provoked you off those boards for some weeks, with similar juvenile provocations. That was the thread where I had your back and mentioned this site as an alternative, which gave birth to your and SeatsBlue's arrivals. So that's how you repay my kindness? Thanks a lot, backstabber!

Well let me take this opportunity to give you props where due. When you said we agree on most everything and I challenged that characterization, I was merely blinded by your equally stunning distaste for Cancerbury, and/or not familiar enough with your other views. But in the end, you were right and I was wrong. There, I said it. Let it never be said that I'm a man who wont admit his mistakes.

Anyway, I always enjoy a good argument and now I know we'll have many ahead of us. Let the games begin!

Very sad that we have to default a captain just because the "leader" will sulk about it..... He has already had two players traded and sexually harrashed and disrespected executives, not to mention they had to employ has idiot family members.....

I don't really think anyone on this team is worthy of being a captain. Crawford wasn't anything special last year, if your not going to be a defender you shouldn't be a captain.....

What's up Benard! Man what a losing battle you have going, giving more than adequate reason why Marbury should not be captain on that board. The post in that thread was this one

I agree. He improved a little but he's still too much of an underachiever to be a captain. Please put together at least one good season before you become captain of an NBA team.

What fan, forget Knick fan would ever come to grips saying this.

Ive played team sports for so many years that any selfish player nevermind a cancer drives me nuts. I was saying for 2 years the NY Rangers would never excell with Bobby Holik there because he acted very selfishly off the ice and became addicted to his name in the media. He never understood that whats said in the locker room stays in the locker room. For good or bad you need a team to take an us against the world mentality like a family. Thats the main reason the Rangers bought out his contract to get rid of his distractions. It wasnt for cap reasons. They had plenty of cap room last year. Now look how great that team came together without him. Then Holik goes to Atlanta and they self destruct.

It kills me that people think that Marbs willingness to sulk and making the team/coach miserable IS A GOOD REASON to make him captain. Thats the last kind of "leadership" you want as a captain

It is no one on this team who established itself to be The Captain
You can name Captain any player but it will not make him The Captain

Last year Rangers Jarg refused to be named The Captain even after setting the team records in scoring, assists, and points total. He sad I didn't deserve it yet - I should first help to make this team to be recognized as a winner.
Now when not only fans but hockey specialist named Rangers the Cup contender he agreed to take the Captains role.

If Murbs or any other Knicks players think they should be Captain it just shows that they have no idea what the professional team sport is.
