Bottom line is we suck until proven otherwise. Everything else is unfounded conjecture.

That being said, I hope we don't have to see Oden go to the Bulls with OUR pick. That would just be the ultimate slap in the face. (If it happens can we be UltimateSlapInTheFace.com, martin? )
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

We will not be in the lottery! how about some faith.
You're right, but only because we don't have a draft pick!

I find it amazing just how high the level of pessimism around here is. It's almost sad. Now I do recognize that there are no guarantees that we won't see another bad season, but I don't agree that its as LIKELY to happen as some of you are making it sound.

Last year SO MANY things went wrong, that it's warped the thinking of those who follow the team. The players we have are FAR BETTER than what we saw last year. I think we have a good shot at making the playoffs this year. NOT a Lock, but there's reason to be hopeful. I'm confident that this team can come together and play .500 or better ball this year. Last year we had too many issues and I find it odd that so many of you aren't recognizing that the number of losses were artificially increased by those issues. You can't really believe this team is gonna end up in the lottery again. COME ON!

I think most people DO realize last year was an abberation and expect this team to finish just like it had the previous five or so years--in the 33 to 39 win range.

Teams that lose every year don't get this down on their team. The knicks do have the highest pay roll but that's not our bill to pay. Dolan is willing to spend in order to win. What more can you ask?

I wish you guys would stop putting out so much negative energy out there. Things guy rock bottom but we don't have to be strung out and just a slave to it.

The high-payroll means alot to me, it shows just how bad this team has been managed. The fact that the Knicks have by far the highest payroll and the fact that Isiah has only added on to that payroll is what pisses me off. It would be one thing if Isiah added to the payroll and the Knicks won, but 30win seasons don't really pump me up.

Exactly. And some people are just more elated by (sub) mediocrity than others.

It's not that I'm afraid we'll get stuck in the lottery forever. It's more a fear that we will forever refuse to mine the lottery. We run from it with all our might, and with all of Dolan's mighty dollars. And I fear we'll never be good enough to contend, and never bad enough to land another Ewing.

Yeah, things seemed really bad last year, but not all that much worse than the prior 5 or 6.

I can't wait for us to get off for some kind of middling start, like 5-7, only to hear the homers calling all the haters and brown lovers out, as if something meaningful has been proven.

Me, I'd much rather us be dumping veterans and payroll and CHASING the damn lottery. Perpetual limbo scares me more than anything.

Unfortunately, we cannot chase the lottery this year, so the team might as well focus on winning as many games as possible by any means necessary. This team needs to do something to be proud of right now and I think making the playoffs with no one predicting that they can would be exactly the sort of positive goal that the Knicks should strive for. The veterans will get moved by the process of time because by this time next year we will probably have removed J. Rose (FA) and M. Rose (through trade). And if we get really lucky, Francis will actually look good this year and we can trade him off the team in February. IMO the best way to get rid of the veterans is to get this team winning and get the trade value of guys like Francis up so that other teams will take them without giving us the shaft. In fact, I see no reason why, if he is playing well, we could not get an expiring contract and a draft pick for Francis (maybe we would have to take back one minor bad contract like some guy making $4-$5 million for 2-3 more years in addition to getting an expiring contract, but if we also get a draft pick and the player fits a need, I could live with that).

I don't see how you can conclude that all signs point to Oden to the Bulls without a single game being played.

I am not optimistic about this year but I don't think the Bulls will get Oden. Marbury's comments that he is going back to Starbury, Thomas's lawsuits, overweight and out of shape centers, Steve Francis, and Isiah saying he would let Marbury play his game have me very concerned. However, I still think the Knicks will win 10-15 more games this season.

What annoys me the most is that to counter argue guys say that some people just love to root for losers, and call is isiah lovers and marbury lovers. That makes me so mad I can't even explain without getting banned.

To me its all about basketball. Even when they lose. Of course I curse like I'm about to kill myself watching, but its still about basketball. I'm in love with the game.

A lot of you guys seriously need to get off it already. Day in and day out with the same bull****. Let it ride already. We still got a month till the season starts and at least a week or so for pre-season. Chill the hell out already.

Based on NYK's past performances BRIGGS is almost 100% right. But remember the past performances got the Bulls the Number 2 pick not the number 1. Right now based on past performances there is a very good chance the KNicks end up lottery bound. Or they can find some heart and lay it all on the line and make guys like BRIGGS eat crow.

I am not convinced that the Knicks won't make the playoffs. I mean Ind. and Mil. got in last year and I think we have the potential to be better than both those teams. I think there are 3 playoff spots up for grabs and seven teams fighting for them (Washington, Orlando, Boston, New York, Indiana, Milwaukee, and Charlotte). It is not unreasonable to think that we can beat out 4 of these teams.

Why is anyone even talking about this kid if we win the lottery its a disgrace, our players are already disgraceful but we should be able to beat a lot of teams and finish above at least 8 teams
