it's a shame, it's probably the fairest assesment we've received from ESPN in quite a while.

I have been saying, you can only kick around a sport team so long when the press goes in the opposite direction.

There is an interesting book called the tipping point.

It's kind of similar to the UK board...to paraphrase, when a small minority are able to portray a view of the population, it always get's to the point when the population steps up to show what they really are.

UK, small group of realists (haters) seemingly making UK a place to go to bash the knicks, suddenly, the bright side is being seen and we are realizing it's actually a place to discuss the team and not bash the situation.

I believe the media will all be behind isiah and the underdog knicks.

i've never seem so many different players bash brown so subtlely, especially harping on the record number of lineups.

6 months ago, it was the complete opposite.

I've yet to see a MSG circus reference.

With everyone behind the players and hoping they succeed, they will be encouraged by the energy of the city and do whatever it takes to TRY to win.

That's all New York fans ever wanted...I mean, we haven't won it in over 30 years.
all kool aid all the time.

I think this article covers every subject that has been covered on the board and is very accurate. It goes into the good and the bad, soemthing that normally means you are a pessimist.

but it does seem like everytime there is a good article written it's all really obvious stuff. Stuff we all know but somehow I told you so's are pulled out from the optimists and the pessimists. It's so silly. LB did a poor job coaching wins last year. The team quit. We have lots of talent. We are underachieving. We have talent to be a factor. We have chemistry that may cause us from overachieving. LB had inconistent rotatiions. the rookies looked good. The rookies will be better. JJ was a waste last year. Curry/Marbs and Francis are the key to the season. Lawsuits embarrassing. Awful trades. Good signig for JJ2. Wait and see on the draft. Blah, blah, blah

I'm not sure why we need reporters to write about this to make it so. IT's pretty obvious and I think most of us have been trying to discuss these things all summer.

In summary: Good article that sums up the obvious.

not true... you can kick a team around for decades. Only one thing changes it: winning.

Clippers got trashed year after year. What changed it? Winning
Hori-Bulls were a joke for 6 years. What changed it? Winning
on and on...

saying a 20 win team is going to improve doesnt make you media darlings.

Since Isiah, Marbury, Francis, Jerome, Eddie, Crawford and the rest of the sunshine boys have won ZERO at this level they will continue to be labeled the losers and malcontents that they are until guess what happens?

Yes... thats correct, they start to win. The media isnt going to be impressed by a team that wins 38 games after spending half a billion dollars in 4 years. You might be, but thats why your rvhoss

Minor disagreements:
I think Q is really a 2 guard and has more advantages there, though he can also play the 3 at times.

I don't think we are two-deep at center, because Jerome just can't/won't bring it. So I am worried about our power rotation more than the 2 guard slot.

And I don't see Balkman getting burn.

Also, defense is at least as much of a worry as 3-point shooting, as someone else mentioned. Though I think Knick fans tend to downplay the importance of three-point shooting.

Last year's team, also had too many turnovers, fouls, and poor free-throw shooting, but I guess Hollinger touched on most of that.

Hollinger is usually a good read, except sometimes he relies too heavily on his PER stats.

I think he'll get some time there depending on matchups. But most of his minutes will probably be at the Pf

I'm asking because *someone* has to play backup center and I'm wondering who it will be. If JJ's anything like last year, Isiah won't want him on the court for one minute with his job on the line.

I think we should come with a "hater" brnigup in the conversation rule. You know how they have the rule of how many posts can be made in a political discussion before somebody compares soembody else to Hitler. I think it takes about 10 posts on the average before somebody calles somebody else a hater.

And for the last time, the season will decide who is wrong and who is right. I still stand by my position that IT is horrible and this team is going to tank bigtime.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Every post on the board starts with someone making a point(right or wrong, negative or positive) and ends with 15 people arguing over who's positive and who's not. can we just talk basketball???

I agree with most of what Hollinger said (for a change). The media is really hanging LB out there and putting the blame on him, which is a little surprising (but since it is true, I guess it cannot be that surprising). This team has some real potential, but we need some things to fall into place. This season will really tell if this team has any hope.

I think we have a decent shot at getting the eighth seed. It will not be easy, and is probably unlikely, but I can see it happening b/c a 41-42 win record can get you into the playoffs.
