Very rarely is this site about talking basketball and discussing what is occurring. It's more about calling people lovers and apologists and making predictions on records and calling predictions facts.

Can't wait til the season starts so we can actually get back to discussing what is occurring.

Very well, I stand corrected.

Let's change the question. Do you believe Isiah has composed a team that will succeed
as it stands?

I think this team is capable of making some noise, coming out with an around .500 record, and it should content for the playoffs, just like it should have last year. What I think WILL HAPPEN is they will win around 38 games, and just make the 8th spot and get crushed in the playoffs.

And I would be okay with that, though I will hope for much more. Next season, I will expect more progress, maybe 45-50 wins and hopefully a second round appearance.

And so on. Measurable progress, that is what I am looking for.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

While number of victories are the ultimate way to measure success, it's not what matter most this season for Isiah...I know Bip has said this a few times and I'm in agreement...The most important thing is the development of the team as a whole...This season is about how Curry and Frye develop as players in this league, playing team ball...If Curry, Frye and Marbs play to their potential and it's a big IF, then the victories will come...If you tell me the Knicks manages only 30 wins but Curry and Frye has somehow become a monster tandem ( 20 and 10 each)for us to build on then I'll say it's success...

I think lots of people here confuse us wanting to see Isiah's vision succeed with our blind support for Zeke...I understand Isiah needed to take some chances given Dolan's mandate(playoffs at all cost) and given the Knicks salary situation...I'm not in agreement with everything he does but the important pieces are here that can turn this organization around...Curry and Frye...

Putting a number of victories on success at this point is short sighted at best...This team needs to learn to play as a team, defense and offense...Key young players needs to step into leadership rolls...A foundation needs to form so we have something to build on...That's whats important, not number of victories....When these things happen then can talk about playoffs and gaining playoff experience....

Just to back up silver on something, this is not the LB crowd here. I don't think anyone here believes Isiah to be infallable, or beyond reproach. I don't think anyone on this side of things would come up with 12 million excuses for him if he coached a failing squad. That is for the LB lovers to make sugar out of ****. I deal with reality as objectively as possible. LB lovers argue about things LB is quoted as saying and say stuff like: well he was just lying to be supportive. That kind of thing is foolish and childish. I believed in this team last year, and never bought the garbage that the roster was so horrible that it couldn't win, just because LB said it. I believe the roster is better this year and expect them to do well.

Kinda like how Larry Brown haters pass off Mo Taylor's comments as Mo being a sourpuss

He never promised to make this team great, win the championship, built the foundation, etc.

NOT true. i remember the press conference when he was introduced as the new GM. he made some specific quote like, "the goal of any team is to win a championship, anything short of that is a failure." by his own admission he would be failure as we went from barely in the running for a championship (round 1 sweep) to the absolute bottom of the league (minus the usual top pick consolation).

i like a lot of what IT's done. i like a lot of the players that have come in. but now he needs to show wins, not players' dimensions or stats if he wants to save his job.

We also remember he said he'd lie to the press for the benefit of the team. Maybe he was doing that.

Imagine the following scenario:
it is the end of December 2006 (end of IT's contract?) and the Knicks are 10-20
OR the end of April 2007 and the Knicks are 33-49.
Dolan tells Isiah to walk.

At that point will you say:
a) Isiah put together a good team, it just that he, like his 5 predecessors, is not a good coach.
b) Isiah tried his best put together a good product, unfortunately the chemistry didn't work out.
c) Dolan is crazy, this team just needs time to gel.
d) Isiah didn't do a good job with the roster after all.

Please do man up. I'd be curious to hear if this scenario, which I imagine you believe is
quite unlikely, should possibly occur, what you think your thoughts might be.

Mind you -- before you say it -- I am not wishing for this scenario to occur.
Personally, I think we'll probably win around 38 games, Isiah will get an extension,
and then we'll plateau in 7th-10th place finishes for 3 years.

IF that happens I admit I was wrong and say Isiah was a massive phuckup.

If the Knicks are playing good ball and headed towards the playoffs at those times you mentioned, what do you say?
