but I disagree with the assessment that frye can't play defense.

His shot blocking ability will come into play this year with the defense we are playing moreso than last year when it was confusion city.

Had we given brown time to get his teachings through, frye would eventually have become a MONSTER, but I see no reason he doesn't become a monster still.

But since I said it, you must disagree.

Hey, you are right...frye never should even have been drafted ahead of lee. Heck, do you even remember frye in college?

Stop believing everything LB is shoveling, it's eventually going to blow up in your faces.

Before he took detroit to the finals, Larry Brown was the Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing of Coaches, an inability to win the big game on the NBA level.

So stop acting like we just fired the second coming.

last year was nothing like in detroit (50 win team when he took over) and he coached worst than all the previous coaches that sucked that the knicks had.

So, just because you love the guy, doesn't mean jack to me.

23 wins. He sucked.

Frye should be the starter over lee...if you don't believe that, then you are just disagreeing to be disagreeing, because you know damn well you wouldn't start lee over frye.

Frye CAN and WILL play defense...so stop trying to get everyone against me because I believe the obvious.

Frye and Curry should start, Lee should sub in.

Don't be such a dope and stop trying to start fights just because it's your board and the haters hate louder than the fans cheer.

You can hear a boo over a cheer all the time.

quit booing.
all kool aid all the time.

Okay, anyway..............I think Frye and Lee can both be solid defenders. I think they will spend the time during the next few offseasons working hard. I thought Lee suffered because he was being asked to guard perimeter players which is not somehting he is used to. Definitely not his strength and hurt him defensively, last year. But going forward I think this will help him immensley in the long run. He will be more versatile as time goes by. I tried to pay attention to his D(of course it's harder to do this on tv) but it did seem to be more of a problem of footwork and knowledge than ability and effort. I think he will improve.

I thought Frye was similar. In the beginning of the year we tried to place him on perimeter players and then moved him down on the box. He seemed to be getting better right before his injury. He does have awful instincts on the perimeter often times being caught napping which you can't do with the great players at the PF position. Another issue is obviously strength. He does get manhandled from time to time.

I do think with the two of them it's a matter of time. I think David has shown some potential to be a very good defensive player and Frye to at worse be above average. It's too early to judge on my end. It all comes down to them and how hard they work.

Excellent, excellent observation. I've been saying the same thing about Larry. He poisoned, tainted ruined this team last season. He knew what the situation was BEFORE he arrived. For him to play the wounded party for the media who wholeheartedly SWALLOWED his every verbal jism was not the work of a coach who was over his head, but a waanabe genius attempting a coup thru the media. Larry didn't come here to coach. He came here to take IT's job. No way most of you REAL basketball people think the team was as bad as 23 wins? No way most of you think that the Knicks will only be about 10 games better than last season. I respect most of you guys here for your BBall knowledge. Get LB's tainted season out of your mind.

I guess you can say doubley about Isiah and Marbry, right? Every season has been worse.

23 wins. The KNICKS sucked.

You're free to believe what you want. I choose to believe otherwise. So I guess you thinking they're going to win 23 games again this year? Hold that thought...

The seer has spoken. LB envys Michael Jordan's number 23 so much that he aims for only 23 wins a season, and thus would bring a repeat performance of the worst Knicks season in recent memory. If the seer sayeth, it must be trueth.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If LB were the coach and he coached the same way, then yes, I'd expect a similar win total.

Dlee was a 6-4 swingman coming out of Highschool and won that dunk contest.

He grew. He is a power forward who needs a year or two to grow into his body. This kid is gonna be a player.

I bleeive LB did want to take Isiah's job. I think LB's goal was to ultimately turn us into a championship caliber team regardless of who was in the uniform at the time he won. He obviously didn't like the roster and wanted them gone. This led to him making the decisions he made which contributed(along with the lack of leadership, poor play, no effort, no D and poor roster construction) to a 23 win season. LB was coaching for the long-run, unfortunately the rest of us were watching for today. We all knew that LB and Zeke could not co-exist. It was obvious from the start. They were going to battle each other. IT's just that some buried their heads in the sand and thought it was a perfect match that would lead to us being Phoenix West.

I still can't beleive this guy is such a major issue. Lotta scars on NY fans and they have to blame someone. I personally think that last year was one of the best things to happen to our franchise. Rock bottom(if that was it) was bound to happen sooner or later. You cannot float in mediocrity forever. I just hope we don't settle and plan for 40 win seasons to save coach's jobs. I hope we instead build a team for the future. I think the ultimatum for Isiah will help us to move beyond that.
