I was reading the boards and Bippity had by far the best post in terms of summing up how everyone at UK feels (coming in at a close second was islefat) so, why not see what the board feels? Here is the poll, here is the post...

Am I the only one here willing to take a chance and say 46-50? I think 45 is the minimum for this season to show "significant progress" over last. Less than that and I say fire Isiah.

I think Isiah should be fired regardless.

I still stand by my earlier stated prediction of 42-45 wins.

Come on, Knicks!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I still see a lot of kool aid going around. This was a 23 win team last year. Seeing predictions having us doubling that seems a little far fetched, but we shall see.

Solace are you being serious or are you just being sarcastic?

I figure this team should've won at least 38 games last year, which isn't too much to ask, since they won 33 the year before with a less balanced team. I expected more than that, but I admit to being overly optimistic about the effect LB would have on the team. I thought he'd bring in stability and a more disciplined game. So I was expecting over 40 wins. I knew that LB was good for an avg of about 10 wins more in his 1st year, so I was optimistic.

I think this year this team will have a better rotation and with a more positive attitude from the whole team, we should see at least a .500 team. You can't compare our SL from last year to what we'll have this year. As i've said before its better.

Steph, QRich, Barnes, AD & Curry vs. Most likely, Steph, Francis, Jared, Frye & Curry or even Steph, Jamal, Jared, Frye & Curry. I like this years possible version much better. With a more set lineup and rotation, I think this team will jell faster and give us a better shot to win as the year goes on.

Why specifically do you feel this team can't come close to doubling the win total from last year? If that's what you really feel?

Do you mean by changing Barnes to Jarred we will double the wins? WOW!
What a great move...

I think he probably meant that in combination with the insertion of frye and francis, and the growth of the young players, and the coaching change (which people assume wont result in the team quitting on the coach this time around, but will actually make use of there abilities and make them better). well anyway I think 35-38 but hope for more. Right now I just want to see a sign that this team has the potential to be an nba finals team within the next couple of years. Im afraid that it might be impossible with the way this team is managed.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. Its funny that someone could look at last years opening lineup and then look at the one we may have this year and not see that its gotten better. Just look at what we got from Barnes/Ariza/Woods and then add AD and QRich's performance from last year. Those players just didn't give us anything. I'm confident that we'll be much better with Francis, Jared & Frye in the SL instead of the guys we used most of last year.

We should've won 38 games last year? Well, guess what... the proof is in the pudding. WE DIDN'T. There's no sarcasm. We flat out stink until proven otherwise. Hopefully this is the year we prove otherwise, but we were *that* bad last year, regardless of the coach.

This team is not well rounded. It's more balanced, but we have a lot of poor defenders, a lot of guys that HAVE to get touches, a lot of guys who are still all potential, and a lot of guys who get bumped around. Our interior defense is piss poor. I hope that we find a way to take our strengths and use them to our advantage, but this squad still has some glaring weaknesses. We're a 23 win team until proven otherwise. The fact that I'm predicting 15 extra wins is a bit of a leap of faith on my part, and quite frankly, I think I may be being a bit generous. That being said, Isiah's job is on the line, and I think they will play hard for him. Predicting a jump 23 wins to 46 wins is more than a leap of faith; it's almost a complete 180. It's great on paper, but it remains to be seen.

It's really only a 5 win jump from the most recent season in which the team had a coach who was trying to win. What's your prediction?

It's really only a 5 win jump from the most recent season in which the team had a coach who was trying to win. What's your prediction?

Or if you take out half the losses, make them wins, add two, and then factor in a randomness factor of seven, you get 62 wins.... so we should easily win 19376734938 games this season.

... Or we could stop making excuses for a team that played awful last season and look forward. Five wins higher than two years ago is a noticeable improvement. Fifteen wins higher than last year is a significant improvement. We have a lot of youth that is still developing and won't hit their primes until years down the road. I hope in the season after next, we could be in the 43-48 wins range, but it takes time. I'm not going to get myself disappointed by putting impossible standards on a young team.

um, I predicted 38. You responded to that number, thought you knew it was mine. I thought the mid-to-high 40s predictions were going overboard.

Oh, I thought you were arguing against people who were predicting 38 because a 15 win improvement was too much to expect. I must have misunderstood what you were saying. My bad.
Our predictions are only off by 2 actually, as I think they can squeeze out 40 wins.

Kool aid doesn't allow for in betweeners. You have to be well into the "optimism" range or you're a hater.. :p

Perhaps there should be an option for those who think the team is gonna be .500 at best. The option of 42-45 is a solid dividing line between the different camps. You're committing to saying this team is gonna have a winning season. The other option obviously says you don't think this team can have a winning season.

I guess the poll could've been:

losing season 23-40 wins
.500 season
winning season 42-45
big season 46-50

W/L. Yeah, okay. But we want something to believe in. Sounds corny, but true. Give us something to cheer for. Wrongfully acused? Underestimated? Okay. Just give us something true.
