Ah, we might ALL learn something... Meantime, I definitely like QW - let's see where the rabbit-hole goes...

Which Way is Up?

Panos - you ever ponder the situation the Knicks would be in if they hadn't signed Kiki Vandeweghe, Spencer Haywood, Paul Westphal, Truck Robinson, Bob McAdoo or Rolando Blackman while their careers were on the downside?

Yes, I have. And Glen Rice, and McDyess, and Weatherspoon, and Longley, and VIN BAKER,
and MoT, and JALEN ROSE, the list goes on and on. What's your point?

The point is the Knicks are in the middle of changing the culture of the franchise

Look at the core of players under 26 and get back to us

Pay attention

Getting players under 26 is not enough.
You have to make smart moves in this league.
There are lots of young teams out there that don't compete for a championship.
The idea is to make smart moves. To have a GM that can get
the better end of the bargain. Not to make the other teams better with the
trades that you make. So far, Isiah has just shown that he's a good drafter.
Other than that, his trades have been more often than not, losses.
So with Isiah at the helm, I pray that we do something like Briggs suggested
on another thread and acquire lots of picks, and let Isiah play to his strengths.

Unfortunately, I think Isiah doesn't realize that negotiating trades is not one of his strengths.

Panos - negotiating upgrades to talent with the players Isiah started with is no walk in the park

No franchise is giving up talent for overpaid dreck, unless there is a significant financial incentive. Then again, would you trade Channing Frye at this point in his career if you could bundle him with equivalent salary for Kevin Garnett... or Jermaine O'Neal?

If upgradiing talent is the objective.. you gotta GIVE to get... with your competition. Sometimes the giving will hurt.

wsdm - did you like the Malik Rose deal that netted first round pick David Lee?

As much as QWoods showed promise last year, I think it speaks volumes that nobody has signed him (or at least publically shown interest).

Typical sugarcoated view. There's no substance behind this speculation. Players in this league sometimes sign late... does that mean they suck or no team WILL sign them? Maybe something is in the works we don't know about, we'll just have to be patient until it plays out. The fact that it's August and Q2 isn't signed doesn't necessarily mean teams won't have interest. He's not a big name, so he's not going to get as much press as the other big names that have or are going to sign.

As for Isiah, I think it is a failure for us to have Malik, JJ, Mo Taylor and Jalen Rose on this team, and have no room for Q2. I'm hoping that we do something to remedy that situation. Anyone hoping for us to trade the expirings (Mo Taylor and Jalen) this season is hoping for more of the same we've had in the past: us taking back a bad contract, bad attitude and trading away our draft picks. For once, I hope that's not the plan.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Yeah, I liked that one and I'd say that "only" about 80% of his trades are bad.

Why you goin' through it one trade at a time as if that's the only trade that matters? Why not post a list of Isiah's trades and I'll tell you which were good, bad, and disasters in my opinion.
