I remember when Marbury was on the Suns and he came to the garden (When I was there) and during warmups, he was doing crazy alley oops and the first thing I was thinking was "Vince Carter would yawn at that. Heck, Marbury is probably doing roids." And then what happens. Charlie Ward and super old man Mark Jackson make an 18 point comeback and destroy the Suns, while Marbury was playing might I add.

Yeah, come to think of it, Marbs is definitely on roids.

I think you might have causation mixed with correlation. Taking Marbury off the team doesn't get you a championship. I'm not even sure how you could think it would.

You've got to be kidding me? Steph is stopping this team from winning a CHAMPIONSHIP in the next 3 years? What kind of reasoning is that? That's just silly. For one thing this team isn't anywhere close to a title and that has NOTHING to do with Steph. How about we let this team develop and grow towards the playoffs and then title contention.

This year we'll see just how much more effective Steph is when he's not being messed with and he has some dependable talent around him. I think all of you Steph haters are gonna be eating your words this year.

I still don't see why Steph has to be brought down in order to make Dikembe look better. Dikembe doesn't need any help in looking like the generous human being that he is.

Blah Blah Blah, the same old stuff about how Marbury has never played with talent, blah blah blah the same stuff about how Steph has no fault in the Knicks losing seasons since he's gotten here. It's pathetic and I'm sick of it. Win some freaking games if your such a good player. Since Marbury has been acquired the Knicks have gone straight down the tubes, the losing has to stop and and the whining has to stop as well.

No it does not but having a max player who constantly complains about getting things his way, who doesn't play any defense and isn't leader doesn't bring the Knicks closer to a championship either.

That's true. But then you could say that about a number of our players except they don't produce either.

Yes that's fine but thats the reason I want 75% of the roster gone. Yes Marbury is included in that number. I'm tired of rooting for guys who don't give their best on both ends of the court and I'm tired of rooting for players who are not interested in playing team basketball. So sick of it.

No. I think Marbury is a very charitable guy and is worth admiration, but Mutombo is so good that Marbury couldn't hold is jock. Not dissing Marbury at all really. Just stating that it's amazing what Deke is doing out in Africa.

We know thats what your saying but whenever you diss Marbury, his little kronies get upset Allan, they get sad becuase their hero is being pointed out.

Its not even like that. The thread title could have just been about Deke and charity in general. Adding the Marb thing too it sounds like its just another excuse to bash a guy. Allanfan already explained himself so whatever.

I'm no Marbury lover but your last statement is just plain false revisionist history. I'm not saying he has helped the Knicks in the way fans hoped but the team was in at least a sorry of a state when he was traded for. The team was a joke then as it is now, so let's not make Marbury the scapegoat.

As for the general, initial post, it is a sad to consider that some feel the need to go to the length of comparing Marbury to Mutombo as a contribution to charity as a means of judging him or finding a way to belittle him. If the post was not intended to be a knock on Marbury then why bother to include his name in the debate at all and simply post something about Dekembe? The only reason one could accept using Steph's name is for "shock value." The problem is that even the nature of the title of this thread in itself is clearly derogatory and in no way can be seen as kind, "balanced" view of Steph.

I don't understand how anyone can not be sick of Marbury's act. He calls himself the best PG in the league, he blames others when the going gets rough, he always gets his way, obviouly he opens his mouth way too much but how come he cant say something like...

"since I've gotten here, it's been bad, I've got to get better and so does everyone else"

Why can't that be what his says instead of drawing attention to himself by calling himself the best PG in the league while the team is in the midst of its worse run in their history.

It's pathetic and I'm sick of these me-first players that Isiah brings in here. Bring in some players that are happy to put on the friggen jersey for once. Players like Curry, JJ are lucky if they can even fit in the jersey. I'm surprised players like Marbury and Francis can fit the jersey's over their overinflated heads and egos. I just want to watch a team full of players who aren't interested in drama and want to help each other get better, play defense and win some games. Is it too much to ask?

Allanfan: Don't be that guy that does stuff just to annoy people. By doing something like that you would actually be, "pulling a Marbury". And that's not right.

um...i found it completely unecessary for you to put marbury;s name in the title....

dikembe has always been a charitable guy so it isnt a suprise as tis isnt the 1st time he's done something like this

but than again, even when marbury means well, people will figure otherwise

Actually Steph has taken some of the blame for what's gone on here. YOU just haven't been listening. You only hear what you want to hear. You can't look at this team objectively and admit that Steph has been the BEST player on the team since he got here and we've yet to find enough players who can lift their level of play enough to help him. He can't MAKE the shots for his teammates and he can't rebound or defend for them either. He has an impact on how they play, but he also has to have a Coach who knows what he's doing too. He's had some good coaches and some bad. He's had some OK teams and some Horrible ones.

As an example, tell me how he was supposed to overcome the loss of H2O and TT in the playoffs in his 1st year? Still he gets bashed for the team losing to NJ. A team at the top of its game and fully healthy. He came here and avg'd 9.3 assists and that CLEARLY would have been even higher had H2O been fully healthy and the team not gone thru a 2nd change in the roster. In the past when he's had even a decent team he's made it to the playoffs. I see no reason to think that he in any way hinders a team from winning.

First off, some of you are getting your panties in an enormous bunch. Obviously you don't know me b/c I've defended Steph equally as much as I've criticized him. I don't hate him nor to I love him. I love his offensive game yet hate his defense and I hate his attitude even more. I agree that a lot of the booing and criticism is excessive, but he does ask for it a good portion of the time with his stupid comments.

I respect him for his charity work but I also think every NBA player should do more. They all get paid so much money and all of this seems to be put in the backburner.

I just don't understand how you guys get so bent out of shape like this. Heck, look at me. Allan Houston is the guy I've looked up to for years, but if I would have heard a comment I didn't like, I would have ignored it. If anything, you guys added feul to my fire when I was making the stupid comments on the last page. Maybe I could have made a different thread title, but still. Sheesh.

Negative. From birth to the age of 8 and a half, I've lived in Flushing Queens, Silver Springs in Maryland, Bethesda in Maryland, Washington DC and then moved here on Long Island and I have been living here in the same house since then. Just a little Allanfan20 history.
