The dude fills a need. He rounds out the team. Knicks still have the question marks. Isiah can choose to stay put and let them figure themselves out, or he can make an attempt to revamp the team and get the kinks out imediately.

Well see. I'm sure isiah is gonna try to do what he can now before training camp.

once again the knicks are in the know and 29 clubs aren't. I have to wonder if washington actually gave JJ any offer at anytime. Im not saying JJ cant be a decent piece, but have you ever seen an athletic 6-11 player have trouble making lay-ups? what we just got was jaron collins at the 3 position. hes got the same build as camby but doesnt block 1 shot per game or pull down more than 5 rebounds?????? atleast he is not fat! but as far as making the team better, well thats certainly debateable! as far as the money goes, its absurd, absolutely fiscal insanity to raise payroll 10mm for a guy like this. but it doesnt end does it?:)

Briggs- the wiz had offered jeffries a similar deal- it was a year shorter and maybe a $1mm per year less on average.

OK let's just get one thing straight, this team is going to be better than some of you think. Better than the rankings have us. I think its actually sad that some of you guys aren't perceptive enough to see what's going on with this team. ARE YOU BLIND?

We have Talent, Depth, Size, Speed, Athleticism, Defensive Role players, Scorers and BALANCE. Many of the players we have haven't even fully tapped into their potential yet. Do you think that Frye, Lee and Nate won't improve? Jamal and QRich already showed a great disposition last year in doing what was right for the TEAM. We have Curry actually able to workout this summer and you just KNOW that Steph is gonna be better than last year. IF Francis plays near his potential and its a HUGE plus. I see no reason to doubt that Francis will return to his normal level and be even more efficient in Isiah's system. We have a coach that wants and NEEDS to win and he has just the right personality and philosopy to work well with our players.

I think some of you just live to hate on the team and can't get past your bias against Isiah and many of the players. You're all gonna be SHOCKED by how much different this team plays this year.

If I was the owner spewing out this kind of cash, I would only expect 48-50 wins and 2 playoff rounds. At this point--whoever says 38 wins is an improvment is out of their frikin gord. The expectations IMHO, are SKY high and need to be executed. I dont think they will be---I dont think adding jefferies balkman and collins to a 23 win team =48 wins--but the return on the cash output has to be hit, no excuses.

Newsflash Briggs you are not the owner. Chill out man the team will definately be better, it was a revolving door at the SF spot now we have one and one who wants to run through a brick wall for Isiah I have no problem with that.

Briggs, how would you feel about this signing if Marcus Williams and Andrew Bynum were on the team?

When we spoke of Butler's 7M contract it was always inflated into 14M (lux tax) and considered exorbitant, but when we speak of Jeffries' it's referred to as a mere 30M.

Seems we have different rules for players we get vs players we don't.

I would say along with channing frye and David Lee we have something going in 2 years as the sht piles out. i wouldnt pay jefferies 30mm under any circumstance i dont even want him for 2mm a year.

Great move...('');

Balances out the roster, adds to team D, speed and line-up diversity... and opens up opportunities to trade other assets for future picks.

This move is a gift... the best unrestricted signing since the Knicks robbed Houston from the Pistions.

I think you have to look at what Isaiah wants to do as a coach - which is run the basketball. Defensively Jeffries is sound. Offensively, his strength is finishing on a break. He's a good fit for Isaiah.

$60M for a role player? Unfreaking real. This guy excels at nothing. The best thing he does is being an off the ball defender and he's not even that good at it. Ariza was ok at that too, should we give him $30M as well? Plus he can't shoot to save his life. Gotta love SF's that can't shoot. Jesus, he's just a taller Ariza.

We're so f***ing pathetic its scary.

He can't shoot so how is he going to stretch the floor?

Make teams adjust to our style of play and intensity??? What the hell does that mean? What is our style of play? Well Starbury is back so I guess our style of play is watching him take his man off the dribble and dish when all else fails. As far as intensity, Jeffries brings none.

Don't be rude, if you have difficulty understanding...('');

He stretches the floor defensively... (on D), allowing the team to apply pressure on the ball from the go...
This team is going to run... that will be our style... run and let offensive oppertunities open up for easy baskets... then put fierce pressure on D...

You need to get past last year and give Zeke a chance to get these players to play as a team...

And who is going to be playing this "fierce pressure" D? 3 of our supposed starters, Starbury, Curry and Francis have never been accused of actually trying on defense and Frye is a mediocre defender at best.

Frye's not exactly a finished product as a defender, he's certainly willing and should improve.

Curry is a kid and just like Jermain in Indiana; things will one day click and you will see a very different player... Crawford at the end of last year showed a serious commitment for D and Zeke is the only person that coutld get Marburry to play hard on both sides of the ball... Q is a hardass on D... Lee is developing in to a game intensity player... RoBalk, Frey, Collins, will all bring a commitment and effort to team D. And I believe Zeke will make Robinson aspire to be like Iverson on D not just offensively...

The key is not any one player, but the teams commitment and ability to play cohesive team Defense... for them to begin to feed off each others successes and intensity in an uptempo style...

That is what Zeke is trying to create...
