The area around livingston is the weathiest in the country isn't it..Wealthier than Beverley Hills I believe.
Are you on crack? Its not even the wealthiest in the state! Cherry Hill and Harding Township are like castle towns. Morristown and Chatham own Livingston in real estate prices and I havent even mentioned Bergen County. You guys in Caldwell are really in denial.

Hmmm... actually my job is right off of Passaic Avenue.

I like the place in Caldwell, though, and as I through the numbers, it seems the best bet. I should've clarified when talking about upscale, I really meant more, "above average". I wasn't looking for a $2000/mo. 1br apartment. I have my limits.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

What you are trying to say is wrong anyway. No part of Essex County is among the wealthiest! Forget about the country, it isnt even among the wealthiest in the state of Jersey. Bergen County, Hardin Township and Cherry Hill are much more expensive. Guns, have your forgotten about the Upper East side? Fuking A man, take it easy with your Caldwell BS. Your town is like any other suburban Jersey town with ****ty cops. I'm glad you and Rob are both Happy there. I'm sure you have good times going to 7'11 every night. Enjoy your party nights at Walgreens.

Woah... so much anger lol. Actually Essex Fells is the 4th highest in the state in Per Capita Income at 80,000 a year, ahead of Harding. Mantalokin, Far Hills and Saddlebrook are the towns ahead of Essex Fells.

Yeah it does, I believe thats considered to be in Fairfield and I know theres alot of companies on that street, so when you said you were working just off of Passaic Ave, that came to mind.

haha no doubt about it. Caldwell is not the place I want to spend the rest of my life in. I'm more of a city guy because I like nightlife and the rock scene. places like LA, NYC, Hoboken but like you've said before Caldwell is very convenient because its only a half hour from the city. its so frickin small though so there are fewer places to hangout and eat but thats not too big a deal. Its super convenient for Solace which is why It was the 1st place suggested to him. Its not like I'm telling him where to live. If you work here and you have to move from NY than you might as well live clse to work.

as far as the madison, medham, chatam area...A few people have told me it is the wealthiest in the country...just what I heard. I'm sure we can look it up

Solace: you mentioned shopping Willowbrook Mall is right around the corner from Passaic Ave on rt.46 Cinema is right there are 2 supermarkets shop-rite & kings. better deals at shop-rite

we all agree that the cops in the in all the towns in the area can be annoying because they don't have to fight real crimes like in bigger cities. Like they'll pull you over if you are missing a license plate light especially at the end of the month when they need to meet their quota and buy more swat cars. You just have to be careful which im not which is one of the reason Caldwell isn't perfect for me lol nyk4ever uncle is a caldwell cop(retired i believe) and even he'll tell you that there are way too many cops but its not that big a deal as long as you are careful. If you can't take the nitpicking and getting raped with fines in court then live in city where there is crime to attend to and you'll get away with having a broken tail-light every now and then

Thats nice. You pick out one town in the page that I provided so somehow that makes Caldwell upscale? Thats cool but Essex Fells IMO isnt really a town. Essex Fells is a tiny as town, more like a community. The total population of that town is like 2000. Its basically a census designated town. Either that or they made Essex Fells a different town because they didnt want to be a part of Caldwell. And Rob, I dont have much anger towards that town, I just want to push the truth. I had an argument about this with someone from Caldwell so I did my research on the issue.

Caldwell is a very heavy middle class town. There is absolutely nothing upscale about Caldwell. It is on the Edge of Morris county and is kinda like the gateway to Newark. You cannot park on the street overnight in that town because the cops will ticket you. You will get tickets like "dim tailight" or "improper use of high beams" but when a bank gets robbed 2 blocks away from the police station, the cops do nothing. More like they cannot. Their incompetance to solve any real crime is appalling. Also, they allow for BS like building a CVS like roof on the town High School with our tax money.

Who said anything about that? I didnt mean to say Caldwell is a bad town cause nothing to do there. My point about the Walgreens was that they took the Bowling Alley out cause they didnt want a hangout for the adolescents to be in that town.
Its super convenient for Solace which is why It was the 1st place suggested to him. Its not like I'm telling him where to live. If you work here and you have to move from NY than you might as well live clse to work.
I already agreed with that. My beef is you and nyk4ever saying Caldwell is a upscale/rich town.

I wish you had looked it up before you posted this just based on what a few people have told you. But whats the point in doing that? You beleive everything people tell you anyway dont you?
Solace: you mentioned shopping Willowbrook Mall is right around the corner from Passaic Ave on rt.46 Cinema is right there are 2 supermarkets shop-rite & kings. better deals at shop-rite
Yea Solace, the men in Caldwell can tell you where to do the grocery shopping.

How are you supposed to be careful about a dim tailight? How are you supposed to know about that? How are you supposed to know that your tailight is out when you are driving? Seriously? You're not. Cops are supposed to warn you if you didnt know

every suburban town is like that though...its how the cops make themselves feel like they worth something. The first time I heard it was either the wealthiest or maybe top 4, i dont remember exactly, was from someone I met when I was in Hollywood the second was from my dad who found out from a business man. Maybe I was off calling it the wealthiest in the country. I wonder where the Hamptons in NY ranks. Regardless Caldwell is an extremely wealthy town. not many affordable rentals other than on the Ave which is still extremely expensive. It's on par with Verona and Parsippany which is much bigger so they have more apartments that are affordable not on par with livingston/hanover though.

And yea its extremely annoying how Caldwell got rid of everything that was good like pizza hut, sizzlers & the bowling alley and replaced it with a dry cleaner, bread store & walgreens lol but they're not the only town that does that im sure...livingston, verona are the same. Parsippany has rt. 46 so there's a lot to do there.

yeah but they need more money for yet more swat cars lol its only because its a small town though. Little Falls cops are even worse. And the judge there was the worst judge i've ever seen. he was the biggest dick ever

Anyway, as far as the towns, here's some of the data I pulled up
Verona, New Jersey
Median Household Income
Median Family Income in the United States - $48,936

U.S.
Average
$48,936

Median Family Income in Essex County - $53,390
Median Family Income in Essex County - $53,390

Essex County
Average
$53,390

Median Family Income in Verona, NJ - $88,642

Verona
Average
$88,642

West Caldwell, New Jersey
Median Household Income
Median Family Income in the United States - $48,938

U.S.
Average
$48,938

Median Family Income in Essex County - $53,393
Median Family Income in Essex County - $53,393

Essex County
Average
$53,393

Median Family Income in West Caldwell, NJ - $99,073

West Caldwell
Average
$99,073

Caldwell wasn't listed on this site, which is odd, but another site showed Caldwell to have a median family income of $97,612.00.
Wayne, New Jersey

Go to Wayne's website Wayne, New Jersey - Official Website
Median Household Income
Median Family Income in the United States - $48,937

Average
$48,937

Median Family Income in Passaic County - $58,460
Median Family Income in Passaic County - $58,460

Average
$58,460

Median Family Income in Wayne, NJ - $99,375

Wayne
Average
$99,375
2000 U.S. Census data, adjusted for inflation

Point being that all of these towns are nice and are above the Long Island towns I'm used to, so combine that with being extremely close to work and I really have no issue, other than the rent is high (and it's high in ALL of those towns). I checked and the towns in that area (Verona, Caldwell, West Caldwell, etc...) are all higher income than my parent's town, and considerably higher than where I am renting currently, here on Long Island. So, seems like a nice safe area and close to work. If I need to go party and I have to drive 15 minutes, it's not a problem.

... and again, as far as "upscale", let's pretend I said upper middle class, to avoid arguing technicalities. I think there's been some very good points made, and I understand what everyone is saying.

wayne would actually be a lot more convenient than verona so whatever you do don't move to verona. Besides Verona is Caldwell's big rival we don't like each other too much Caldwell is the best option because its because it even more convenient than fairfield. the part of fairfield your company is in is completely surrounded by busineses and there aren't any apartments next by. Actually there's a complex right on passaic ave but you don't want that because it's problably expenisive and its surrounded by big companys. Caldwell is much more communal.

Yeah. I was looking at Verona, based on suggestions, but I wasn't as impressed with the town as I thought I would be. Driving around Caldwell and West Caldwell, I thought it was pretty cool. There were a few gyms, places to shop, groceries (heh heh), and very close to my job. Those things are the most important, because I probably won't be going out that much during the week (especially since the only people I know in the area are my new coworkers and you guys!). Now if there's a few good sushi places around there, I'll be set. Maybe you guys could give me a tour of the town and nearby towns, and let me know what's around.

Next thing to do is I have to call the broker back. Right now, the place I'm considering is in Caldwell, 2 br, 1 bath, has sun room off of the kitchen w/ dishwasher, where you can put a kitchen table, basement w/ washer, dryer, and a few parking spots, water, heat included for $1395, and the broker is trying to get the price down a little more for me. I'm probably going to go with that unless Silver convinces me that Caldwell is pwned by Satan.

The place in Verona I saw was 1 br for $1175, and didn't have all the stuff this one has, so I left, a little unimpressed with that place.
