This will be blasted in Renaldo Balkman like fashion on the media & on most fan web sites (of course, every move is blasted---last week, you might have thought we lost Moses Malone in his prime as opposed to Jackie Butler), but this is a good move. The guy Jefferies is a mobile 6'11", plays the 3 mostly, defends very well, passes, has a good handle. He's the diametric opposite of the primadonna mentality that brings this team down. He's smart, selfless & his length at the 3 is not quite that of Tayshaun Prince, is somewhat similar. He is not really a scorer but has a skill set to finish at times.

I don't like this guy. I've always described him as a tard,lol.

I'm gonna be real though.....with the way Isiah says he wants to play, than Jefferies is a good piece to have. He would definately be a good signing if the Wizards don't match....I think they will match though.

What about Woods?

I hope I'm wrong, but I think that Washington will match.

btw, Hasn't it been reported that Layden was going to draft him with the Knicks' first pick in 2002 if he hadn't made that horrid Camby trade?

I'd love for this to happen but somehow I feel like we just can't catch a break, and it will be matched. I love his length and athleticism, and he would fit great into Isiah's new system. He also will soon be coming into his prime. Let's hope it gets done.
"It was good," Curry said. "I killed Malik, Jerome. The usual suspects. It felt good."

reason why zeke signed him: they went to the same school..

naaaaaa, that's not why... Jeffries is still learning the game but he'll be one of the finest players in within the next yr or so..

Tall, athelic, plays D, rebounds and good ball handling skills..

If it's true and we do get him, it will be a smart move on isiah's part..

I agree....but he can fit what the Knicks are trying to do....the Knicks are trying to get up the court in a hurry. Jeffies can play 3 positions on both sides of the ball.....he even played shooting guard at times for the wiz.....he is a complete tard but he is long and he can move a little.

Now we have 7 days of hell to deal with before it's official.

looks as if Zeke was astute.

great move. best part about it - no quirky, conference rival cap-saving zany ass sign and trade proposal.

Extend the offer, if they match move on with life.

For once a CLEAN free agent transaction.

a 4 yr 17-18 mill deal is all I would offer.

I've always considered Jeffries to be a watered-down Alan Henderson.

But he is an upgrade over Butler, so if he signs with the Knicks I can't complain.

He is much better than Clarence Weatherspoon, or Jerome James.

I love the signing....I would love for them to not match, but you have to question exactly what Isiah has in mind. Isiah touted Balkman as a highly touted prospect(comparing anyone to Artest automatically earns that) and I know there is no way he would have known he would sign this JJ to an offer sheet before he drafted Balkman, BUT he had Balkman before he signed JJ.

If you examine this further, it actually(position wise) sort of puts us between a rock and a hard place. Now you got Curry and JJ at center and Frye and Lee at PF(there is simply no room for Lee at SF with Jefferies here if he comes here). At SF you have Jalen, Q, Balkman, Jefferies, and maybe Collins?

To me Balkman and Collins are the odd men out, and are no higher than 3rd on the depth chart(Balkman is 4th and Collins is like 6th at their respective positions).

I love the sign if it happens but it raises alot more questions than we had before this came out.

Isiah keeps making fine moves but everyone gets on his ass afterwards. Just watch.. most of the people in this thread like this move. However, by the all star game, it's gonna be "the worst move ever because there is no chemistry." Isiah's not responsible for chemistry. The coach is. And since the coach is Isiah.. well, you better believe he's gonna do a gj.

I think Wizards will match it. I like Jefferies. Nothing special but he's improved last few years.

He makes fine moves talentwise.

But it is starting to get alarming that he makes moves to patch up spots then following them up with moves that he sees as better when all he is doing is double stacking the deck(signing James, drafting a PF/C in Frye then going after Curry.....having Butler on the roster, then drafting not one but 2 PF's in Frye and Lee....drafting Balkman and touting him so high, then signing someone that makes him a 4th option at the position...in the span of a year getting Steph, than a young PG in Craw, than drafting a young PG in Nate)...

This is really good news. Jeffries can play 4 positions. I guess Balkman really won't get pt.

I would be quite surprised if the best part of Jeffries' career is as good as the best part of Weatherspoon's.
