What about AC green? He had the tools and refused to use them too! God bless him!

Good question. Thinking about it does make me worry about Eddy. Maybe some of these guys fit the mold?

'Sheed
C-Webb
Robert Parish
Dale Ellis

some lesser players who still reached their potential and became useful players:
Elden Campbell
Brendan Haywood
Kevin Duckworth

hey man nice job.

Sheed did seem to lack an assertiveness or a killer instnict. sure showed the passion against the refs tho!

cwebb? higlly skilled player, even perhaps a great player. but it was alwys the disappearance in crunch time with him.

the chief? he looked like a bust in golden state. and there was a bad rap re: his work ethic. i think in his case it could havd been a msjudgment of his stoic appearance. but man what an instant differernce when he landed on the perfect team and with the perfect teammates for him.

ellis???? i never got the lack of passion thing with him. i just thought it took him a long time to find his nba game.

campbell - frustrating player. so damn good when he was on he looked like a 23-12 type of player. absolutely no consistency tho. and another guy with the stoic face - coudn't tell whether it was lack of passion for the game or just his disposition.

haywood - i still don't get this guy. is he any good or not???

duckworth - i always loved this guy!! fat as a butterworth 1/2 the time, but carried himself with total attitude like he was an all-star, even when he could barely get up and down the court!!

and buttermilk buscuit eddy?????? where's his future pointing??? who the f knows??????

Borris Diaw. Lamar Odom.

Not sure how these fit the question either. Diaw was lazy or just took a few years to bloom?? I think that's a different question.
All right. I don't know a lot about Diaw. But Odom was definitely known as a partier who had his head on backwards earlier in his career.

Andre Aggasi.

Andre Agassi is probably the best example of this. However, there's a different dynamic when you're playing completely for yourself vs. for a team. No one to fall back on when you play for yourself.

You're probably right about Ellis. Seemed to me that he had a bad rap at some point -- did he have a drug/alcohol problem or a legal scrape of some kind? I just don't remember well enough. Haywood I think is a decent player, plays D, starts for a pretty good team. The Chief might be the most hopeful comp for Eddy, but really none of these guys seem quite comparable to Eddy, who's kind of a unique case (out of HS, the heart trouble, etc). Except that some did have a bad rap that wasn't really deserved and that they shed once they found themselves and/or the right situation -- we can only hope that's the case with Eddy and his rep.

Side note about C-Webb--one of my favorites. Never really did ditch the rep, but had some great years and missed out on a title by a razor's edge. I always thought he was the consummate team player, whose playing the 'right way' (to coin a phrase ) was mistaken for disappearing in the clutch by fans used to seeing MJ and other lesser stars take over at the end of games, open teammates be damned. But I may be a minority of one on that.

I am not sure I understand the question, but guys to me that are lazy and don't have any passion and that led to them not fulfilling their potential are:

Webber, Odom, Carter, Oliver Miller, Tim Thomas, Jim Jackson, Steve Francis, Marquis Daniels, Bonzi Wells, Mo Taylor, Stro Swift, Andre Miller, Gasol(until recently), Derrick Coleman, Kenny Anderson, Rod Strickland, Drew Gooden, Jamaal Magloire, Tinsley, Chandler, Larry Hughes, Brendan Haywood, Damon Stoudemire, Bibby, Baron Davis, Kwame Brown....
Edit to include Vin Baker.

I also think guys like Steph, Rasheed, (to a degree CWebb and Bonzi), fall under a different category of major attitude problems-Alston, MIke James, Jason Williams, Kemp also fall under that category.

the question is not what players are lazy but have all the tools... the question is what lazy players who have all the tools have gone on to achieve their potential later on.

you guys keep misunderstanding the question the original poster asked... he wants to know what lazy players with potential HAVE realized their potential... not which players w/potential have NOT realized their potential.

guys like Kwame, Tim Thomas & other busts & disappointments are not what he's looking for.

Elite, next time you need to phrase the topic of the thread differently

I thought he was asking for players who were lazy early in their careers but turned things around later
