If you really look at it butler is a 4th stringer. If curry and jj are in foul trouble the knicks can stick frye in at center.

Anyway If some of you would relax you would have seen that every move isiah made gave him an out. I mean damn he even said when he acquired Taylor and penny and malik that they were gonna try to win now with an eye on the future. Well its only been a few years. The future is already here and the cap is shaping up.

Now with isiah taking over as coach with a system that seems like it will work....the time is right to be positive!

it's safe to say marbury's deal expiring is the year the knicks are back under the cap...I think franchise is the same year as marbury.

so it takes Isiah 5 years to do what could've been done in 3.

Applaud that man.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

The problem is, by the time Marbury and Francis come off, we'll be resigning Frye to a max contract, Nate to a 6 year, $60 MM contract, Lee to a 6 year, $50 MM contract, and we'll still be paying Curry, Crawford, Big Snacks, etc...

we won't be under the cap. Not in our lifetimes.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Problem is the payroll will be over $200 mil by then. We'll have the next generation of overpaid max contract players.

That's probably true. I could see us turning the expirings into more players with long term deals. "Baron Davis, welcome to New York. You'll be playing small forward."

Only if they are worthy they would get the max contracts.

Correction: if Isiah is GM, they will get AT least what I said. Point is they will use most of the cap room, if we intend to resign them. That's why getting under the cap early was ESSENTIAL and we blew it. So, let's not talk about the cap. It's too depressing.

It still makes sense to get this obscene payroll down and close to the cap, and then see what kind of flexibility it offers to improve the team.

Do you know if we don't sign anyone this season there is the possiblity that $55,870,250 falls off the cap this year?

In the form of:
Allan Houston $20,718,750
Jalen Rose $16,901,500
Maurice Taylor $9,750,000
Shandon Anderson $8,500,000

Hopefully, Dolan/Thomas will find a way to extend these deals, or trade some expiring contracts for a few more over-rated, overpaid vets.

First 1 billion dollar pay roll. Get it done.
