Keep in mind, I'm talking about "real" training, not a couple of visits to the gym. I'm talking about training to the extent where one uppercut can literally take someone's head off, many many feet in the air. At that point, awareness and speed of execution are far more important than bulk and size, which actually stand to be quite a disadvantage. Reach is less important unless you're enforcing boxing rules. So, Nate actually has a better shot in that scenario unless Shaq's got some other-worldly tricks. Which, of course, he may have - I've never sparred with Shaq.

In an untrained fight, Nate would lose quickly barring a silly gamble by Shaq - like the blown puch against Brad. Fun thread Oohah.

Thats not true. You just need to know where to hit. Any 10 year old could easily take down any sized ogre if given a "free" punch and knew what to do with it. Unless Nate has some kind of uncurable muscular dystrophy, his punches are gonna do damage.

A trained martial arts fight and regular "fisticuffs" are 2 very different types of encounters. To begin with, Nate would have many technical advantages based on size and reaction speed alone.

If both were clueless about what to do, however, Shaq would barrel through Nate like he does curly fries at lunch. Imagining Nate run for his life is really 90% of the fun here.

What about a battle royale between the Knicks and the Nets 5 starters in an untrained fight? Any takers?

I am surprised that the gravity of this question has eluded you, and quite frankly I feel embarassed for you.

Please answer the question posed. Perhaps with the right amount of research, thought, and soul-searching, you will find redemption within your answer.
