Hate to say it, but this is circular logic. YOu're saying that:
1. "The Knicks won't make it to the playoffs because they don't play defense."
2. "A team must play defense to get to the playoffs."
3. "The Suns made it to the WCFs so they must have played defense."

You create a rule (#2) and then make a conclusion (#3) based on your own rule
that you imply supports your own rule. Then use the whole mess to conclude #1.

Of course you must play SOME defense to get to the playoffs, every team in the NBA
plays defense in some way. But the Suns are by no means a good defensive team,
they just try to out score you. You can propose your own rule #2, but at least
admit that the Suns (and some others, e.g., Washington, last year's Dallas, etc.)
are an exception to that rule.

The Suns were one of the most efficient defensive teams last year, actually. They just don't get enough credit for it, because they run a high-paced offense.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

What are you talking about? Opponents scored an average of 103 ppg against them,
third worst in the league! That's efficient?!

The Suns possesion time is low because they shoot early in the shot clock. Meaning that there are more possesions for each team during the game....more opportunities to score. That leads to more points.

Please read my post again and you'll see that I said "Advance" not "Get to the playoffs." There aren't a lot of teams who DON'T play defense that advance, and almost no team wins the championship w/o being at least a real good defensive team.

...with that being said, they are middle of the pack defesivly if you look at opponents FG %

If the Knicks make it to the playoffs, its called progress....

Miami played damn good defense in the finals, Dallas scored 100 points once in the 6 games and they held the Pistons to under 86 points 4 times in the Eastern Conference Finals. That right there is how championships are won, NOT by scoring on your opponent to death.

the Suns don't have any lockdown defenders, but everyone, including Nash, plays hard and get in passing lanes and force turnovers. Opponents score a lot on them b/c the pace of the game is so damn quick when the Suns play. And their defense was better when KT was playing, and will be even better when Amare comes back. If KT can hold his own, I still say the Suns can contend for a championship next season.
