your right... we didnt get back any scorers.

and yet you wanted Marcus Williams over Balkman...
I was being sarcastic but whats your point? That trade would balance the roster and give us a shot at top talent in whats regarded to be the deepest draft in 10 years. Unless of course you already think Frye is a superstar in the making. I'm not dumping Frye, just balancing the roster in the short term and looking to vastly upgrade my talent next year. I would give them top 3 protection, and thats it. They arent very good.

Since we are destined to see a FranBury backcourt for a couple years why not surround them with what they need to succeed? Namely some guys to go and get the ball. Battie is a bigtime defender up front. He adds wins to our team, we get Ariza who must be good because oohah loves him and a pick next year probably 6-12. Pretty good IMO

I was being sarcastic, too. you guys have lost your sense of humor. I think Larry Brown stole your joy...

(also, the Magic have a better shot at the playoffs next year than we do...)

somebody stole my joy... thats for sure. It all comes down to the same thing w/ Isiah, are we winning now or arent we? On one hand you have Franbury. You have Curry and Crawford who may be young but also have 4-5 years under their belt. You have Mo T, you have Jerome James, QRich... all pieces that should help you win now. Then you have Isiah say "rebuilding" every time he opens his mouth. Is that piglatin for "OK to lose" ??? If we are supposed to win with these big money guys he brought in then go get what you need to win with them. We need another wing defender and Ariza can do that. We need ANYONE who can guard the post and rip down tough boards. Lee is close but Battie is the real deal there. And we get a pick which should be decent next year in a talent drunk draft. I would rather have pick 12 next year than pick 5 this year.

OR

We can pretent we are rebuilding while we watch FranBury pound the ball for 45 minutes a night while once again own the worst opposing FG% and sending everyone and their moms to the charity stripe.

I'm not saying this trad is what we need to turn everything around, but it says to Franbury we are paying you guys $35mm a year and now we are giving you what you need to succeed. If we arent going to do that we do we have them?

I'm not against the idea of the trade, but I am against giving up Frye for that package. The Lakers offered Odom for Frye. If Frye has to go, I think we can do better.

I do concede that one major flaw to how this team is built is that Frye and Curry probably can't play side by side very often unless one or both make major defensive strides.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

think about it... its a good formula. What would a Franbury combo need to succeed?
Balkman and Ariza give them two 2/3 combo players that can defend and fly on fast breaks
Lee and Battie gives them two guys that can hustle, defend and get them the ball in front court
Curry gives them a great finisher who would feast on put backs and garbage dunks
Crawford is a good backup and a shooter and QRich as well

I think you would start big with:
Marbury
Francis
Ariza
Battie
Curry
then go small w/ Balkman, Crawford, Nate, Lee and Q1 off the bench
Thats 10 guys, and I think Nate and Q1 are probably the guys that lose minutes, as Crawford and Franbury will all need a lot of minutes.

Is it a great team? In my opinion no, but if your commited to Franbury (which we are for 3 more years and about $100mm) its the best formula for them to suceed

I see your philosophy, but when the Knicks ain't running, they will be getting zero production out of the forward position....

since when is good defense and rebounding "zero production"

I know its been so long since Knick fans have seen that but those things actually win BB games.

Isiah is the only GM that thinks all 5 spots should have scorers. And their back ups should be scorers

My bad Fish, I meant to type Zero Offensive production...I understand you nedd defense, and that lineup will provide it, but on the offensive end, that will rely too much of a 6'2, 6'1 and 5'9 guy to carry them.

and David Lee

Hardaway's contract is over.
Maybe they can do a sign and trade where Hardaway gets a max contract; Isiah would love that! It would be like 2003 all over again!

its only one guy... decent defensive teams have at least a few good defenders. You figure an on the ball guy, a wing guy and a post guy. Thats why I like Tony Battie so much for this team. Same reason I liked Reggie Evans (for cheap). Same reason I HATE Mo Taylor and JJ who demand some looks because of their stupid contracts but guard nobody.

I dont see a Franbury backcourt being effective, I never did. This who thing is just a hypothetical that for them to succeed they would need several things we DONT have. But hey, maybe Isiah Lord Thomas proves me wrong.

Agreed.. My opinion is that Ariza was waaaay over-hyped. The man can't dribble to save his life, can't shoot and never displayed much defensive skills (he was burned nightly). Ariza can run and jump.. That's where his strengths stop.

Shooting Woods
Rebounding Woods
Handle Woods
Strength Woods
Athleticsm Ariza (but not by much)

This shouldn't even be a debate.

he Orlando Magic has the option to match any offer made to Ariza, 21, who is looking to make $3 million per season.

i wouldn't offer a penny over the LLE for Ariza personally.

I would give him $8m over 3 years. Dont have a roster spot though. Malik, Mo Taylor, JJ and Jalen Rose are all sucking up spots.
