I agree Bonn. It was one game, big whop. Amare schools everyone anyway. His first game back in that 3 game set, he had 20 and 8 in like 20 minutes.

Yes, Frye has got a ton of flaws like his rebounding and defense, but he's got a lot of heart and work ethic, so with that, the rebounding and defense WILL come around.

I still think its a problem that Frye was not ready to play against Amare. I'm not saying I expected him to outrebound him or even outscore him, I just wanted to see him manup Amare and show him that he was no slouch and when watching the game, I saw absolutely none of that from Channing and that worries me.

It's not about Frye's play, it's the way he got bumped around like a preschooler that's concerning. If the guy put on some muscle, he needs to learn how to use it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

"talent" so overrated. Talent has us a 26 win team with stars like Marbury, Francis, Crawford, Curry and of course 4 more years of Jerome JAmes :)
"talent" dropped Gilbert Arenas to the 2nd round and Ben Wallace and Brad Miller out of the draft.

Watch a couple games and get back to me.

This coming from a guy who spent 3 to 4 pages of a thread gushing about Bynum's "huge upside."

I didn't see the game but maybe his knee was still weak?

I like Frye a lot. My only concern is whether his game compliments Curry's and the other way around.

It depends on how you build the rest of the team. If you have a scoring SF who doesn't rebound or play D than Frye is an awful compliment to Curry. But if you sacrifice some "talent" at the SF position and get a player that rebounds, plays D and knocks down shots than Frye and Curry's inside/outside game is a tremendous compliment. Of course that would also cause you to build your backcourt a little differently as well. You would need perimeterb defenders because of the lack of shot blocking.
I just hope that people will like me

Case in point in what I was talking about Frye when he got torched by Amare against Phoenix.

This quote is from David Lee in todays New York Post
http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/lee_on_fast_forward_knicks_marc_berman.htm

"Everyone says summer league doesn't matter, but I definitely would've been disappointed if I came up here and didn't give my best performance," Lee said. "It's a good jumping-off point."

Amare is a top three player in the game if he is healthy (and he looks pretty healthy). You have to be kidding.

Channing looked like a little kid when he was guarding him. Channing MUST improve defensively, Amare did what he wanted at will against Frye. I expect Frye to atleast put a body on Amare, which he didn't do.

I was merely pointing out the fact that the players think summer league matters, even though posters on here like to think it doesn't.

Amare plays center in the NBA. Teams have to dedicate entire defenses to guarding him. That's different than matching up one on one with a guy with a bunch of rookies around you. I kind of think that they should hold out any pro who has more than three years experience from these things. It kind of defeats the purpose of the summer league.

Tell me - who in the league could guard Amare one on one? Especially when Amare was getting the benefit of the foul calls.

There aren't many players that can STOP Amare, if any. When I watched that game, I saw Amare do whatever he wanted like Frye was a fly on the wall. Fryes defense has come into question since he entered college at Arizona and its STILL in question coming into this 2nd year in the NBA. I wanted a bit of a better performance. As I said earlier in this thread, I wasn't looking for Frye to outscore or outrebound Amare, I only wanted him to atleast get a body on him and stop him from doing what he wanted at will and Frye came nowhere near close to doing that. This tells me, Frye really hasnt worked on his man-to-man defense thus far and thats a huge problem if he's going to be starting for us becuase are backcourt is already going to be giving up 40ppg a night, now throw in the frontcourt of Curry and Frye who could also be giving up close to 35ppg, thats a HUGE PROBLEM.

I'm honestly not going to judge how Frye does against Amare with no help as to how his defense is progressing. Amare has embarassed Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett and Shaq and almost everyone else in the league. He is the most powerful player in the league.

I'll wait until pre-season, or better yet, the season to see how his defense actually looks.
