I love how people bring this up and treat it like holy scripture. Yet if the New York Times reports that Brown didn't drill defense in practice, it's a Cablevision conspiracy. The truth is probably this - Marbury got frustrated and freelanced (he was also our best player and when he freelanced we won six games in a row, but whatever). Jerome James is a joke of a basketball player and showed up to work hungover. Someone on the team didn't tie their shoes once. Larry Brown showed to collect paychecks and was a horrible coach and a worse human being.

When Marbury "freelanced, he also played great D and a great all-around game that LB was preaching.

Do you know for a fact that only one person didn't tie their shoes?

You are doing the exact same thing that you are telling guys in Brown's corner not to do-Minimize the items that belittle Isiah and take the items that bash Brown to heart.

If you are going to minimize-minimize both. If you are going to take face value-do both. Neither party has the credibility in this situation to be taken more seriously than the other.

I'm quite sure Brown would have rather had Marbury freelancing but playing with effort over him out there like a lifeless drone trying to prove a "system" wrong.

that was the best ever. "the crossover" was followed immediately by "the timeout" and "the respirator" with "pure oxygen" to the lungs.

It's like buying a brand new Mitsu Eclipse. It's flashy, it'll get the job done, but it is not a car that screams dependable car. Now you go out and win a 2005 Volvo S80. Not as flashy much more dependable, and overall a better car. Which car do you get rid of? I personally choose the Volvo. It's a safer and all around better choice. Larry was the Volvo, Zeke is the Eclipse.

thanks Joe I was looking at an Eclipse but heard bad things from people about lots of mechanical problems. After your analogy there's no way im buying it!
