who is the better player - Francis or Marcus Williams?

Francis was always my least favorite player in the league a)he's a 6-3 SG 2)he's a cancer whereever he goes. He's always complaining and quitting on his team

A Steph and Francis backcourt can work under a coach not trying to screw the team over.

Francis is a unique physical specimen. He has a body gifted with the ability to do things than 98% of other pro-athletes cannot physically do. But I believe that Steve has never enhanced his game by adding a jumpshot, improve his ballhandling nor do I believe his basketball acumen is of the highest caliber. Do I think that Marcus Williams will be a better pro than Steve Francis? Well, he really has no chance to put up the same numbers, but do I think he will be a better team basketball player--a player that helps team get Ws? I personally do. I think it's a no-brainer that you take him over Balkman whether you need a 1 or not. Some people are making the case that Balkman was the NIT MVP etc...while ignoring that Marcus Williams was an absolute star in the REAL big show, averaging nearly 20 points 10 assists 4 rebounds while shooting 50% in his last 10 games--saving his talented, yet chemistry troubled team time and time again. The guy's ability to see the game, his basketball IQ is off the charts, so I have to believe that with his size-savvy, skill and brains that he should be a serious NBA player who has more effect on W-L in his prime than Francis. Two different type players.

well we'll see. We heard it would work last year eventhough Larry was "screwing the team over" We heard Marbury & Crawford was going to work too. But nothing has worked so far

Lets forget about last year. For sake of this argument, lets just say we never saw Francis and Marbury play together. That, Francis just got traded to NYC and he is gonna start in the back with Steph. Be fair, would you give this backcourt a chance? Would you say that maybe these guys can play together and compliment each other? I mean, its crazy enough that it just might work!

I think Isiah is doing the right thing by giving them one more shot at it. I just wonder how this will affect Crawford....

Plus we do need to get Steve's value up again. A couple 20 point games and a few W's and he will be tradeable again. I bet you at the deadline, a team looking to get over the hump for the playoffs will want to take him off our hands.

No I don't think so. I've never seen an undersized backcourt that can't defend and gets light up every game by opposing guards win in the nba in 12yrs of watching basketball. Is Curry/Frye ever going to see the ball with those 2 jacking up shots? It has disaster written all over imo

Filibuster: in a legislature or other decision making body, a filibuster is an attempt to extend debate upon a proposal in order to delay or completely prevent a vote on its passage.

Interesting little tidbit-Once in congress, many years ago, in order to prolong and delay a vote, the opposing party actually started reciting the dictionary-verbatim- at a hearing.

Francis and Marbury have been team-killers everywhere they've been. Neither one of them plays team basketball, neither one of those knows how to run a offense, neither is taller than 6'3 and neither one of them plays anything close to defense.

Add that all up and add in the fact that they are going to be taking close to 40 shots a night combined, leaving no shots for Curry, Frye and Crawford and you have disaster written on it, around it, below it, ontop of it, whatever you want to say. I can't wait for the Knicks to give up 110 points a night.

Now I'll wait for the Isiah-Squad to come in and say, "what are you talking about, your not a Knicks fan, your dissing the team. Why can't you get excited about this team, the teams happy under Isiah, it's going to be a great year"

There's nothing surprising about Francis starting. He and Marbury are the 2 best guards on the team.

I really like the move because it should make Francis play shooting guard instead of point guard. I have always believed shooting guard to be his natural position and I think he will excel in that role. He will also provide ball handling for when Marbury is out or they can reverse roles when Marbury is hot.

Let's just hope Francis is willing to pass the ball.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

well we really dont know if this will work or not b/c we never got to see it last year. I think we can all agree that the two will be deadly together or the two will be a disaster together. I dont see any middle ground.

The most mentally tough guy last year... Jamal.. the guy that improved the most.. defended the best.. will be demoted? That doesn't make any sense. The only reason I can see Francis starting is trade-bait.. if the playoffs are your destination.. then, this doesn't make alot of sense.

i see where your coming from but I think starting Steve at the beginning of the year is the right thing to do. If Jamal outplays him in camp or in the beginning of the season then I think you would see a switch. But as of right now, Steve should start.

Jamal was not the most mentally tough last year, he just composed himself nicely off the court. Most of last season was a disaster for JC until the end portion, the exception being a short stretch in the first half where he had a few good games.

I just see JC as an instant offense from the bench guy. If he is hot, ride him until he cools down. But starters need to be consistent and JC has never been consistent.
