Whether or not JJ sucks, he's going to get some minutes, at least to start the season, because of the huge contract Isiah gave him. Expect to see JJ get another shot.
Maybe; Isiah's also discussed buying out JJ if he comes in out of shape.

Killa: I thought fat Curry got far too many minutes and hard-working Jackie got far too few. Reward those with the right attitude and punish those with the wrong one.

Does this restricted free agent matching rule give us the opportunity to sign and trade?

How freakin' perverse is that? You buy out a guy who's not professional enough to keep his ass in shape 1 year into a 5 year contract?
a) Isiah is obviously a fool for signing him in the first place.
b) NBA players should never be signed for anything more than 3 years. Don't know why these unprofessional guys get guaranteed money! They should be able to be fired, like the rest of us!

if it comes down to jackie or woods I'd resign woods. There's plenty of 6-10 guys who do what Jackie does. Woods/Balkman is a nice tandem at SF. Once Woods jumper becomes automatic he's going to be unstoppable. The more playing time he gets the better he will become. He proved showed last year what he can do with playing time. He's not 19 anymore. We snatched him up at just the right time. Much higher ceiling than jackie imo.

Completely agree, Woods can be the total package. He's decent off the dribble, athletic, legit sf size and young.

Isiah would be foolish to let him slip through our fingers, especially considering we have a rookie back-up and an undersized/poor shooting QRich at the 2/3.

NYK and Martin

I can think of MANY games were Curry was playing well, picked up a couple of fouls and never returned to the game. I can think of MANY other games were for whatever reason, CURRY was miysteriously missing from the lineup. Sometimes in the 4th quarter of games he playe well in. I can't say JB got all of those minutes, but I saw more than enough suspicious benchings of Curry last year.

If you guys can't remember that I don't know what planet you are living on.

that just speaks for Curry not getting minutes. Not that Jackie didn't earn his. I don't remember a time where I was thinking "damn, Butler is stinking it up, why is he playing". Nor do I remember anyone mentioning this.

I think there were a lot of instances where Curry may have been doing well on the offensive end of things but didn't play a lick of D, didn't go after rebounds, forgot to rotate, etc. LOTS of instances of this. And maybe they also coincided with a pretty good offensive effort and then LB benched him for a guy that played hard on D, dove for rebounds, etc.

I would match just about any offer for JB. My guess is he's offered something around what Steven Hunter or Scalaweenie got... 5 years $15-$18mm and IMO thats a bargain. For god sakes we gave JJ $30mm and he cant get on the court. JB just turned 21 and still has good upside. I think that could turn out being a major bargain.

Please replace Once with IF.

Theoretically, Balkman can give us what Woods & Ariza did- hustle effort plays.

I don't think there are that many 6'10" guys out there that can potentially do what Jackie theoretically can do.

Mind you, we're talking potential, but I think Jackie has great hands and great agility and footwork.

I think Woods might be a great talent and yes, he had some athletic moves that truly impressed. But there are plenty of phenomenol athletes that don't make it and plenty of non-athletic guys that do with effort and size.

For goodness sake- JJ is a testament to how being 7 foot can get you paid. Likewise, adonal foyle, Kandi, Nestorovich, Chris Dudley, etc.

If you are a 6'7" player, you need skill. If you are a big, you can get by.

I think Jackie definitely has the size you want and I think he has skill.

It's sad that this is even a discussion. We all know veterans who have nothing to contribute like JJ and Malik should be waived and there should be plenty of room for both players and even one more signing.

Malik may not contribute on the court as much as one would hope, but he contributes in other vet-like areas. Same role as AD had in the locker room.

That just highlights that our only good attitude veterans are useless on the court.

How do we even know how much locker room prescence they have had? I don't think it's prudent to assume just because they suck and are veterans that they are great leaders and team builders; especially on this Knicks team. It's easy to be a great team mate in SA where the culture is so good(Malik).

Judging by the team's performance, the "locker room presence" was negligible at best in light of the other glaring errors. If you need locker room presence, hire an assistant coach. Malik's game is terrible. He does not deserve to play.
