making isiah coach is actually the result of the strong anti-isiah sentiment. this decision was made by mills, dolan, and msg. i don't think isiah had any say in the matter here.
the problem i have with it is that this is more about isiah proving himself rather than what's best for the team and it's long term interests. this is about "this is your mess, now clean it up." this isn't about "how can we make the knicks better." with all the damage done over the past 2 years, 2 coaches fired, .400 and below records, and an absurd salary cap, he really should've been let go along with lb.
[Edited by - djsunyc on 06-26-2006 10:19 PM] Either that or Isiah simply wants us to think that, rather than think he betrayed us after saying he wouldn't coach. I wouldn't be surprised if he's just decided he doesn't trust other coaches and he wants to motivate the players.
