I can't believe people are trying to pass Jamal "are we out of contention yet" Crawford off as some kind of established basketball player?

its amazing the low level of expectations and accomplishment that Knick fans have for their players and their team.

i have to admit you're right and that's a great name for jamal.

"Jamal 'are we out of contention yet' Crawford"
Oh man, I almost died laughing at that! I like Jamal and thought he made some nice improvements for a few weeks, but he's still nothing more than a "high potential" (i.e., underachieving) player after SIX years in the league.

I like Jamal's talent. I think he can be a bonafide sniper on a championship team. I just don't agree he has made a name for himself or has any real laurels to rest on as of yet.

I'm happy for the first time he actually responded to coaching but its going on year 7.

slow learning curve = lottery balls for the organization.

we need to start figuring out how to win and he is an integral part of that.

stoudamire's rookie year (age 22): 20.3 mins, 9.7 pts, 1.9 rebs, 1.2 asts, 41.5 fg%, 38 3fg%
crawford's third year (age 22): 25 mins, 10.7 pts, 1.5 rebs, 2.4 asts, 41.3 fg%, 35.5 3fg%

the stats show they are similar players at the age of 22. now, crawford's game changed last season as his ft's are way up and his 3 point attempts are way down so we'll see if that trend continues.
MCk1: LOL, So I can post Frye vs Bosh Stats Year one???? Crawford isn't an allstar but Stoudamre isn't any where near Crawford as players.

anji: for crying out loud. if you can find Frye's numbers in the NBA at 19 and compare them to Bosh's then be my guest buckaroo.

as for Stoudamire and Crawford, can you back up your belief with an actual argument?

Oh it's by age I should have Sheed wallace????? SMH

No, you don't have to back up who is a better player. YOu know who is a better player reguardless of stats or what year who did what in. Is Garnett out right better then Duncan because of what he did at 19 in the NBA??? NO. Mike James just Averaged 20 points and 6 assists, is he even a top 10 Point Guard???? NO. Would I consider Just about half the leagues PG's to be better then him???? YEs. Would I Have to prove it??? NO!!! Would anybody except me saying Hedo Turkoglu and Andrei Kirilenko are in the same league as players because there numbers are close and they are tall EuroPlayers???? NO.

Stoudimare is a fringe player in the NBA, Crawford is not. Crawford is better now and these last two seasons by Crawford are probably the best Stoudimare could hope in his whole career. That is even if he is in the league five years from now. That equals not on the same level.

you can put together sound arguments as to why AK is better than Hedo and Duncan is better than KG.

you have no real basis as to why Salim and Jamal aren't comparable and why Stoud should hope to be 3 point chucking 39% shooting Crawford on his best day

LOL, no salim has no basis of an career to argue about. Again, SS has a high chance of being out the league in a year or two and is a fringe player, see Dajuan Wagner. Crawford isn't an Fringe NBA player.

Anji,

There is no comparison between SS and Wagner. Wagner was a lotto pick and as a rookie he was quite impressive. He looked like a good player for years to come, then he got a bowel infection that required multiple surgeries that will have probably ended his career.

I agree that SS could be out of the league in a couple of years, but I think it is more likely he will survive for close to ten years. Crawford has more of a total package to offer, but unfortunately he only offers it ten percent of the time.

I liked Wagner and he is better then SS. But Crawford is better then Wagner, so I don't see how this argument went half a page taqking that as true.

Would anybody say Nate is equal Crawford???? No. Nate to Salim comparisons is much better IMHO.

As long as Marbury is here, we can't make too many definitive statements about Crawford. Crawford, in my opinion, is a very fine swing guard to have in a three-guard rotation. If QRich had played to potential, we could have started Marbury and Q and brought Craw and N8 off the bench for scoring punch.

With Steph and Q they compliment each other perfectly. Craw is almost taylor made to play a swing guard off the bench. I will go on record and say if Q played up to his potential, we would have been at least a .500 team. I am not blaming anything on Q but all this losing started a domino effect on the players and the coach.

Joe, how can you go on record saying that when i just said it on record. That's like bidding one dollar over my bid on the price is right and winning the showcase. But you're rght, and I agree with me, that QRich playing bad ball (granted he had problems in his personal life and injuries to boot) was a major reason the season quickly went in the crapper. It's a shame but we really didn't learn much last year because our coach was constantly experimenting and not letting anything take hold. In fairness to LArry, Curry and Q were both AWOL due to being out of playing shape to begin the season. It's tough and i'd even be willin got give LB another year witha healthy squad and a muzzle to see what he can squeeze fromthis team, but in NY you don't get to keep coaching after a 23 win season and alienating 3/5 of the team and your bosses who hired you to the richest coaching contract in sports.

Uh....Difference is I gave a record...

Seriously I agree with you totally when it comes to this issue. That losing had a definate domino effect on this team. If you looked up Murphy's Law in the dictionary, you would see a picture of this season's New York Knicks.
