not all of us view the trade for Curry as a rebuilding move.

nor the Crawford one...

nor the Mo Taylor one...

nor the Francis one...

nor the Marbury one...

when you trade future cap space and future picks for guys who are pretty much definable as NBA players because you think the talent is salvageable, you are not rebuilding - be it traditional or "unconventional". could be generous and say its an attempt to retool. However when its done with no identity in mind it is as nalod states: STARPHUCKING

Well it is, they are our most valuable pieces at the moment and two guys who has shown some flashes that they can be something special...Like it or not, the future of this organization is tied to those two players at the moment...

no the future of Isiah Thomas is tied to those 2 at the moment.

the future of the Knicks is tied to how the Larry Brown situation is handled. may end up with Steph as player-coach. then its really a bonfire!

Larry Brown has no bearing on the future of this organization...Again, Larry Brwon has no bearing on the future of this organization...He wants to win now...I have been wathcing the Knicks long enough to know we are not in a win now situation..He would have given us 3 years at best...now it's only one...Time to move on...No team is build around it's coach in the NBA...Never was and never will be...Get over it...I can't wait 'til Dolan drops the hammer so we can all move on and concentrate on the players again....

>>So huff and puff abt the MoT's and Malik's of the world, I'll keep my eye on the young ones like Curry, Frye, Lee, etc that will lead us in the next few years...

Holfresh - you ever get the feeling that some posters would prefer that all the young Knicks players fail so that Isiah can be permanently cast as the villian?

Personally, I like Channing Frye as a solid citizen, intelligent young man and potential captain in another two years.

I like David Lee, his sidekick, as an improving rebounder and defender. His shot showed enough bright moments to warrant an even brighter future.

I like Jacke Butler coming back from a near-disatrous set of decisions as a high schooler to make it to the NBA with solid effort and blue collar productivity.

I like the idea that with one (or both) draft picks, Isiah will select a lead guard or smooth forward with ball-handling ability and a team-oriented mantra that will exponentially rub off on our decent frontcourt players who only need the right look at the right time.

I like moving forward.

No matter what the chicken-liver hearts decry as the end of the world.

yet we're watching Dallas and Phoenix go at it. You're going to tell me those two teams aren't built around their respective coach's philosophy.

what happens to Larry is very important. ISIAH doesn't want to coach. that leaves exactly who...Herb. If that happens could the no. 1 pick in 07 be gift wrapped any nicer

at the end of the day, the names on the back of the jerseys don't mean anything. the name of the head coach doesn't mean anything. then name of the gm doesn't mean anything.

all that matters is there's a plan in place and we're building a team. you hire the best possible guy to be gm, you hire the best possible guy to coach, and then you get the best players you can to FIT the style of play that the gm AND THE coach decide upon.

that's how it works.

what do we have that resembles that?

In those organizations, its about the players on the court no matter what style they play..It's about Nowitzki, Howard and Terry, not the Little General...In PHX, it's about Nash, Amare, the Matrix and now Diaw...not the coach...But with you guys, it's all about Larry Brown...This isn't college...We could win 45 games next season on the way to build something next season without Larry Brown but you guys won't be happy...So keep rooting against Isiah, the players and root for Brown...I'll be the guy courtside with pom poms when Curry and Frye finally comes into their own...
Hopefully Larry will still be in basketball somewhere...

do you know which two coaches were voted COY the last 2 years?

I dunno what you are watching but this series in particular has been very much about the coaches - particularly the match-up strategy.

D' Antoni stuck TT at the 5 to start the series and shot Damp right out of this thing in the first qtr of gm 1.

Avery has had to been pinpoint with his use of Diop.

I totally disagree with your assessment. we see different things when we watch but thats cool. makes for a discussion

We will agree to disagree then, because I just saw Dirk drop 50 on PHX...I saw the quickness of Devon Harris and Howard do the Spurs in...I saw LeBron single handedly stare down the Pistons....I see a more active Shaq giving the Heat a chance to be competitive...But thats just me..

For me its not even about the players anymore. Some of them are ok, some suck, but whatever. I just want a GM that is not the joke of the entire league. Somebody who makes good decisions.

If I wasnt used to it, I'd be upset at IT apologists, but hey, you gusy alwasy seem to come up with a new excuse. First it was let him have more then a year, then it was, wate to see if his trades and signings work out, and now its wate and see if his draft choices work out. Keep giving him more and more time. Layden was already a hated man by this time around with like one person defending him on the forum.

Wonder whats so different about IT. And I'm talkin about results, don't give ma all that crap about how we have this and this guy under 25. Every freakin team has under 25 guys with potential and talent. This is the NBA. The truth is none of our so called youth movement guys are franchise talent or even definite starters.

Its like being excited about Sweetney and FW. One is out of the league and the other is a role player for a mediocre team. You want to blow up your Lavor Postells and John Wallaces into the 2nd coming and keep your heads in IT behind be my guest.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
