here's a question - do defensive minded draft choices, or role player acquistions via the MLE like reggie evans or jarred jeffries even come up as options if lb didn't coach this team? or would we be still drafting, pursuing the sizzle players?

I look at Pheonix and Detroit, really they have no role players. Everyone is a skill player, and I think thats the way the NBA is headed. The whole key is you need guys who understand the word pass, or atleast would be willing to buy into a passing system--although T Thomas doesnt have many assists--look how many passes he has thrown. I look at these two players and they both are two way players with top notch althetiscm strength length skills that come from winning programs. Im just guessing style of play, and it would seem likely we open it up some--would I like us to move up and get Patrick Obryant? or even get sene as a shotblocker--it would be nice but it appeasr unlikely--so going for the 2 way athletic skill players who are BPAs make the most sense

This is a good point. I completely agree. I would throw Dallas into that mix and even San Antonio outside of Bowen.

I don't think Larry understands this at all and seems unwilling to adjust to the new rules. He's a horrible coach for this roster - which is more Isiah/Dolan's fault than Brown's for chasing his name/cred, but Brown took the money...

Ben Wallace, Lindsay Hunter, Tony Delk, Antonio Mcdyess and Tayshaun Prince aren't role plaeyr?
I see what your saying but its hard to call the NBA's best rebounder and defensive player a role player. I mean he's as much a star as the guy that scores 25 a night no? Prince is a main cog also, and a featured player on offense late in games because of the matchup problems. A bench is a bench

???? I said take Sene with your 20th pick unless you have a problem with shotblocking.
If defense is your game, take Blalock in the 2nd round. Roby is a decent defender with alot of upside to become a better all-around player. Look I can't get Brewer, Roby is the next best thing. A legit 2 guard, no combo stuff. A legit 2 guard, put him next to a legit pg in Lowry. what more do you want?

IF Roby stays in the draft, there is NO way that sene and roby last to 20+29, so Im not even entertaining the idea. A lot of teams need big men, so I think our pool at 20-29- will be Augustine[who might be the next best big guy after the first tier of bigs] along with Jones Boone than the skilled undersized guys smith powe johnson. thats about it. Is Shannon Brown at 29 better than these guys? I think he is.

the other option--use $$$$$$$ and the picks to switch positions with teams who dont like the draft. i.e like 29+2mm for 18 etc...

OR the unlikely event we can get WAY up there by trading marbury.

so going for the 2 way athletic skill players

That should be the vision of the team for the next few offseasons. Especially with the draft. And weed out anyone thats not cappable or not willing.
