I mean, larry was a loser until we hired him...he complained to the refs too much when he was in indiana, he complained to the press too much in philly and he stole a job from a respected coach and a team constructed by an incredible GM and got his only NBA championship.

what has he actually done that lenny wilkens hasn't done, besides lose a sh!tload of games as a knick coach.

Great question Rv. I think it's less about Larry than people think. I think for many fans LB marked a change in philosophy. During pre-season management talked about 5 year plans and blah, blah, blah. Fans saw that LB started slowly in most of his stops but always ended up with the team in good shape. People have faith that no matter how bad we got things would get better under a guy that has done it time and time again. Some fans were actually trying to show the support and patience that no one thinks we had. Fans were finally showing support for a guy they beleived in instead of players that hadn't won. They saw Larry fighting against guys that had done nothing but win 35 games year after year. They wanted the winner to win. Not the losers. They saw beyond the rotations and game to game decisions and tried to view it as a five year plan. Now they see that plan yanked from view.

With Lenny it was different. Lenny did not have the guts to stand up to Marbs or anyone else. The man deserved management and our support. But he was doing more of the same. Fans saw him doing more of the same. They saw him tailoring offenses to get the most out of the team so that we could win 30 games. They didn't see him teaching lessons that would help us with long-term improvement. They saw yet another man overwhelmed by NY making day to day moves to save his job. More of the same wasn't something fans wanted.

The only reason I supported Lenny was because I knew he would not challenge Marbs or management unless he had support. That if he was on his own he could not coach. We never gave him this support that I screamed for, so it was more of the same. Another impotent coach canned.

Now we go out and finally get a coach who's record should have given him the 100% carte blanche to run the organization the way he wanted it run. The kind of carte blanche that the Parcell's and Riley's and Jackson's of the world deserve. Instead once again we made him impotent by hopping on the media hoarde and screaming for someone's head. Now as fans, with the firing of LB we see one thing. If we could not support him, if we could not believe in him and GIVE HIM THE POWER THAT MARBURY WEILDS, what coach in their right mind is ever going to come here? Unless of course they come to take the money and run.

That's why the uproar. Enough is enough.

I'm in the minority in the marbury has power thing...he could be traded just as easily as he was obtained.

And I hope larry stays.

And I will be a knicks fan and a brooklyn nets fan as i am a Yankee and Met fan...as you notice, there are more yankee fans that tolerate the mets than there are mets fans that tolerate the yankees.

More of the same for new york. I guess that's why we love it so much.

Just to answer the question without all the dramatics: No, I will never be a Nets fan. I hate the Nets.

This whole Larry brown thing has proved a lot. Ny fans are not the most knowledgeable fans on the planet. In fact, most of the fans are stupid mofo's that bitch and complain about everything but the game of basketball.

actually, people that stick around are equivalent to beacher during the first season of oz. not knowing what's going on and putting their trust in shillinger (isiah). then before they know it, they're getting greased and pumped up the booty.

whereas the guys that are sick and tired of it, is the beacher that evolved already to year 4 or 5 of oz where he's throwing people over railings and setting up plans to kill shillinger's kids.
