first of all, stop putting words into my mouth........

second, do you really think it's harder to bring in role players than it is to build a nucleus of star players? I hope that was another one of your typos because that's ridiculous.......

if it is sooooo easy to bring in these stars, why are my precious knicks made up of NOTHING BUT ROLE PLAYERS? hey layden, since it's so easy to bring in stars, could you hook up a nice deal for duncan, or maybe t-mac? if it is so easy to bring in "star" players, why did we sign clarence weatherspoon last year and not trade for c-web? why did we settle for a "role player" instead of bringing in a "star"?

i'll tell you why.........because it's harder to bring in the "star" players than it is to bring in "role" players. keep in mind i am not saying it's easy to find a delicate balance between the two, all i am saying is that if you are building a team, it's much easier to aquire "role" players than it is to bring in a "star". role players are necceasry, no team has ever won a championship without players who have claerly defined roles and stick to them. i agree that you need both to be suucessful, but you can't tell me it's easier to find a Rick Fox or a Horace Grant than it is to find a Shaq or Jordan. that's just bull.....

obvioulsy we disagree about how checketts handled ernie, i know for a fact that checketts was hands on with most things. he stayed away from the college draft and most of the scouting, that was all ernie, ed tapscott and dick mcguire, but checketts always signed off on trades and free agent signings. i believe it was the both of them making the decesions but the final say was always made by checketts. let's not forget checketts made a name for himself as a NBA GM with the jazz and the knicks before he was made CEO of MSG.......

oh, and lastly, when did ernie get fired in 98? i thought you were pretty sure about that one.....

just so you know, i am all for talking hoops and leaving the personal junk out of it, but you attacked me after the first time i ever even posted on this site, so don't bring it like that and not expect to get some payback. i am a lifelong knick fan and i heard about ultimateknicks.com recently from a friend. i was pumped to see that there was a place i could go to talk about my squad with other fans, little did i know that i was going to be attacked after my very first post. if you come at me, i am coming right back at you, especially whem i am right, like in this situation......

But remember, we all have Orange and Blue in common, so it's all good. It's the FUTURE we have to worry about, fellas.
