Kenyon is definitely struggling but I remember the kenyon martin who played on the Nets, shutdown Jermaine O'neal, posted 30/15 in the playoffs, was the heart & soul of the team, just ask any Net fan, dunk all over our players and got in their faces, impossible game winning shotblocks and you don't just lose it it overnight

I find this to be a romanticized version of KM. I would have to write in Kidd as the leader heart, soul, and leader of the Nets in all ways during those runs.

KM had some good stretches back then, but again, I think it seems much bigger in retrospect. KVH had some really big moments too.

With a knee injury you can lose it overnight. When you sustain a cartilage injury the next day you are a different player. Very likely you are worse every day after that.

for one Mcdyess was just coming off surgery...Kenyon had his in college.

KM Broke his leg twice in two years: in his last year in college, and then as a rookie. He is no stranger to injury.

I would have to say no thanks, the man is definitely damaged goods.

K-mart is just too vicious of a dunker to stay healthy. He is a violent jumper. He gets off the floor too fast. That's why his legs are screwed. With that being said when Martin looses that freakish gift then what type of player do you have.....

Damn man leave this guy alone!

I want Francis gone, and believe it can be done, without making things worse by adding K-Mart.

Killa is right on both Francis and Marbury. Martin is a bad risk - its not just that he'll play 50 games - judging by the past 2 seasons, he'll play those games poorly.
His half-court offensive game seems to actually have gotten worse. His rebounding is crap.

If the Artest circus can get you Peja, then any off-court issue can be overlooked. Either Marbury or Francis, based on their talent, should do better than an unhealthy Kenyon strapped with a max-contract.

to me it's the same as having Francis playing like crap on this team w/o a role & being a malcontent while spending alot of time on the bench down the stretch of games... if KMart's contract is insured, i would have no qualms about trading a guy like Francis for him & taking the chance that KMart will bounce back from his knee issues, rather than have Francis sulking on the bench for much of the season & being a negative presence on the team next year... Francis is signed for a ridiculous contract of his own as well, but if he doesn't perform, the Knicks still are on the hook for his salary... do you think he'll ever live up to that contract while he's in a Knicks' uniform? to me, the risk is just as great by keeping Francis on the team... at least if KMart doesn't pan out, insurance will pay his contract... but if u feel u can get back more for Francis in a trade, i'd like to hear who you think we could possibly target... obviously i'd love to target a guy like Lamar Odom for Francis, but i don't see why the Lakers would be interested in that deal... Al Harrington would be another guy i'd target, as you well know, but you can spare your comments about him... this discussion is about KMart.

Its not a matter of whether his contract is insured or not. Its about making an already terrible cap situation even worse.

Mike (NYC): Why isn't George Karl playing Kenyon Marting more? I read today that Martin is unhappy with the playing time he is getting? Is he on the outs with Coach Karl ?

Marc Stein: (1:24 PM ET ) Me and Buch and others here have been writing and saying for weeks now that the the George/K-Mart relationship is unsavable. I'm told it's even frostier now than it was at the trade deadline when all the talk swirled about K-Mart being moved. I thought the Nuggets would be able to steal one in L.A., especially with Team Sherman tanking its way to the No. 6 seed because it wanted Denver so bad, but the Nuggets don't have the health, shooters or togetherness to beat Sam I Am's team. As I wrote in the Daily Dime last night/this morning, I owe Sam another apology. And he will be laughing in my face next time I see him.

kmart will be a knick next year. it will be francis for kmart. denver was rumored to be interested in francis. and i think the only reason francis is here is b/c there was some sort of agreement with denver that we would consumate this deal in the summer.

could be that the Knicks backed off and just took francis to give them more time to see what was up with kmart's knee.

But if it's K-Mart or Francis, you gotta take K-Mart. He at least tries hard on both ends of the court consistently.

On the positive side: K-Mart returns to old form. He's a tenacious defender and an athletic freak who intimidates with dunks on offense.

On the negative side: K-Mart does not return to old form, he modifies his game and becomes a modern day LJ. Still great on D, but now with a craftier offensive approach.

On the Knicks side: we trade for K-Mart, his knee explodes, he's forced to retire. Everyone we trade for him emerges as an all-NBA First Teamer.

Mo and Nate for KMart and the 49 or a future top 10 protected 1st rounder.

The way things are going in Denver, I am not trading a major trade chip for KMart when we can possibly ship Francis to LA (Cassell and Maggs?), Hotlanta (Harrington?), Portland (Miles and Ratliff, Blake or Jack?), Houston (Swift, Alston, Howard?), or the Lakers (Odom?).

Francis & the #29 to the Clips for Cassell & Mags would be a dream come true if it happened... in that case, i agree w/u... i'd give up Mo T for KMart straight up... no need to give up Nate in that deal since DEN is getting tremendous cap relief by making that deal... then deal Marbury to MIN for Griffin, Jaric, Hudson & future 1st rd. pick (cut Hudson)... we end up w/this:

C - Curry / Griffin / Butler
PF - KMart / Frye / Malik
SF - Maggette / Lee
SG - Q Rich / Crawford
PG - Cassell / Nate
IR - Jalen / Jaric / Big Turd

maybe trade the DEN pick for a future 1st rounder due to lack of roster space.

Tell you what I am not sure I wouldn't want to trade Francis for Odom instead of Cassell and Mags....then pull the tigger on Steph trade you said, and sign Jay Williams to a deal.

Curry
KMart
Odom
Q
Craw
...to start, maybe have Williams and Craw in the backcourt if Jay earns it and use Q as a gunner and defender off the bench.

Now I have heard it all. This is Dice all over again. Kenyon for Marbury? WOW!!! They'd probably do it in a heartbeat and it would make them a really good team. What would it make us? Whats that like 12 fowards now?
I agree 100%. I dont mean anyone specific but people have to calm down about Kenyon Martin and their panic Marbury trades. Kenyon Martin is exactly what we do not need on this team. We should remember McDyess. We dont need that crap. Also, I dont think we can do very well with Marbury. i dont hate him but I dont think he is the right leader for the Knicks. I think we should trade him but not for garbage. He is still a very good player that at the very least dictates cap space + draft pickts.

i don't see the Lakers being interested in Francis... if the Knicks would take a flyer on Jay Will, then buy out Jaric too while we're at it.

I thought the Lakers made a push for Francis at the deadline......Walton may be ready to start at the 3....Francis-Kobe-Walton is decent.
