Craw rarely makes point guard plays in terms of breaking his man down, getting into the lane, drawing defenders and dishing off for easy dunks or layups.

His point guard play doesn't really make the other players better. In a nut shell, Craw is a 2 guard who can back up a legit point guard

uh...Larry clearly doesn't want a PG to do that or else he would like Stephon a little more, no?

Actually, before Steph got hurt, during the 5 game win streak, Marb was averaging around 23 pts and 12 assist. And during that streak, Marb was getting into the lane constantly. And if I recall, Brown was throwing all sorts of compliments at Marbs sneakers.

yup. weird that Brown would change his tune while Stephon was injured and wasn't even playing...maybe he was trying to deflect blame? oh no, the magnificent Larry would never do that. he's got such a track record. he's never belittled anyone, he's never been fired and he never traded Iverson only to have the trade blocked when Geiger enacted a no trade clause. that's our larry.

my take on the Marbury 23ppg, 12apg is this - Brown was ready to accept winning in whatever form it came. we were 7-22 when the turn around started.

Thats why I think we are cursed, if that type of play continued, it could have defined teh new Larry Brown era...But in those games we were outscoring people...wasnt too much defense involved, but we played hard....

yeah if we go into the season with just Crawford and Nate.

Increased possessions, increased ball dominating, and a career year from Rip are why Chauncey's assist totals are up. Crawford may have improved his own shot selection but besides the occasional alley-oop, where has he shown he can consistently create correct and/or easy scoring opportunities for others?
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

you just answered your own question - Larry doesn't want a PG who makes direct assists, he wants a facilitator/initiator. That's why Chauncey is dominating the ball MORE without him. LB wants a PG to bring the ball up, start ball movement and try to get open and then defend on the other end.

Also, ideally, this team is going to based around the post play of Frye and Curry. Teams that run a lot of post ups rarely have PGs with high assist totals. Even now, most of our plays involve posting up Curry, Jackie or Mo T. You aren't going to get an assist dumping the ball into the post.

I'd keep Craw, Frye, Lee, Nate, Butler, and maybe Woods. That's it.

I think most of us would like to keep the Rooks plus Craw, Butler, Woods and perhapes Curry but the key question is who of those might have to go in the process of getting rid of our malcontent!!!

I can believe someone is saying to keep Q Richardson. He has been MUCH WORSE than Tim Thomas last year. Oh, he tries... awesome. His typical 1-7 FG game through all this season has been killing us.

I'm happy to have Crawford as our 6th man. I think we just have to find a bigger and decent SG to start unless suddenly Q starts playing like a NBA player.

what does Chauncey's assist total have to do with Jamal Crawford being a point guard?

Crawford can feed the bigs is funny b/c one of the biggest gripes on this and other forums is touches for the bigs especially Curry.

And if you think the game, you can get assists in the offense. see Mark Jackson. however most of the time, our guards first instinct is to get a shot up when pressured.
