We don't need a point guard. Period. As soon as knick fans realize this the better. Sure we would love to have Payton. Van X, Kidd, Starbury or whomever. But we don't. What the knicks need is height. Point guards come a dime a dozen. Its easier to get a point guard then it is to get a big men. When we went to the finals against San Antonio who were the point guards. Chris Childs and Charlie Ward. Why did we lose that final. Because we had no big men to stop Duncan and Robinson. Not because Avery Johnson was just lighting us up. He only scored because we were double and triple teaming Duncan and Robinson. Don't get me wrong the point guard position is important just like the other four positions. But if you had to rank the five positions I would have to say that the center and power forwards are the most important positions. All a point guard has to do is be able to pass the ball inside and not turn it over.

People may point to bibby in the Western Conference finals and say that a point guard is really important. 1) The Kings still lost to the Lakers (Powered by Shaq) 2) Bibby did not perform in that fashion the whole season and they still had the best record in the West. (Powered by Chris Webber) and 3) They lost to the Lakers. So you see its all about size. The point guards we have are adequate. There not bums. And if they are we have another point coming next season so why would we even try to trade Thomas or any of our frontline. That would be crazy. You keep Thomas for insurance in case Mac D gets hurt or as the 6th man, a role he played very well in the past. Between the three points we should be ok. If Doleac starts we could have Thomas sup for him or Mac D giving us a good bench and a nice starting line-up. I would prefer someone other then Doleac but lets face it this is it. At least for the start of the season. The center we do eventually get will not need to score to much anyway. With the tremendous three scoring is not a problem. Defense is. The Knicks just need a defensive center. A shot blocker. Period. So stop crying about the point guards!!!!!!!

I re-read the entire string just to make sure, so.....um, who's crying about the point guard? I think you posted your message in the wrong string. Everyone in this string was talking about Camby.
