Crzydmps has expressed all of my feelings for me on this matter. Its like he's psychic. Or worse, he watches the knicks with an objective eye. Some of you guys should try it.

PLUS, I'm all good with Q being vocal and supportive of the coach, but did LB ever tell him to not suck and to maybe hit a jumpshot every now and then?

I would be more than glad to hate LB for the next four years if he makes us better and gets us a title. I don't care about what type of people these guys are. As long as they don't rape, kill or committ crimes who cares. Controversy, I don't care. If Marbs is a jerk, I don't care. What I care about is wins. So if LB wants to get rid of everyone on this roster and it results in wins, MORE POWER TO HIM.

This was an interesting off-season preview analysis:

http://probasketball.about.com/od/teams/a/knicks06.htm

Excerpt:

Move We'd Make: Isiah Thomas' offseason efforts may have made the Knicks a bigger team, but they may have gotten worse defensively. New York is the only franchise willing to swallow other team's awful fiscal decisions so sending Hardaway and Butler to Portland would net the Knicks Theo Ratliff and Ruben Patterson in an instant. Ratliff would an ideal complement to Curry, while Hardaway would give the Blazers a solid option at shooting guard and a mentor for Martell Webster.

State of the Franchise
The tell-tale sign of a once-prosperous business having spiraled into a directionless and uninspired mess? Spending more and more money to solve their problems. Such is the state of the New York Knicks, a former perennial NBA power that's shrank in stature in contrast to its escalating payroll.

Gone are the days of the rugged, defensive-oriented squads that occupied The Garden in the 90s. And gone are the wins. They've been replaced by a team whose trademark is letting big leads escape. They ply their trade with poor shot selection, a passing regard for rebounding and defense and, most notoriously, an "every man for himself" methodology at both ends.

Not even renowned disciplinarian and new Knicks head coach Larry Brown will bring about a return to orange-and-blue renaissance. New York has become a dumping ground for other teams to unload their most expensive mistakes, and its left Brown with a roster of mismatched parts and no instructions for how to blend them together.

The plain truth is that New York has never adjusted to the equality brought forth by the 1999 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Whereas at one time the Knicks could buy star players from floundering franchises and outbid all suitors for premier free agents, the current system allows all teams to hold onto their great players. The Knicks, using their stale tactics, now apply their buying power to other team's greatest misses, hoping they'll finally realize their potential in New York.

They won't and the Knicks will put up with them only until the new batch of delinquent talents becomes available. It's a vicious cycle that Brown will soon be begging off of.

Not sure why the cycle is so hard for some to see.

Seriously, I've been talking about this vicious cycle that Isiah has put us in for 2 1/2 years now. But then again, I am the smartest guy on this board as Bip as already mentioned.

I've been talking about it since the day JVG quit. I don't think it's isolated to Zeke, I think it's an organizational failure that continues to follow this logic of being one player/coach away from winning it all. This organizational logic is what causes guys like Zeke and Layden to make the bonehead moves that they do. Then we blame the one guy when they can't get it done. We refuse to think that we may have to build something.

So I disagree with you that it's all Isiah but I agree 100% with you that the roster is a mess and that we need to change it drastically and that anybody who is in the GM seat is part of the problem. And yes, you are the smartest on the board. But it's really not rocket science.

q1 had the worst season of his career. but if they're trying to change the culture of the organization, and many players have quit on the coach, then we should appreciate the guys that didn't quit and continue to play hard. that's all we have left this season. we haven't won games, therefore individual #'s are moot at this point. right now, it's about finding guys that care and play hard...as lb said. so q1 stays. you can address all the missed shots, if they continue, after the team has established a culture of hard work and effort. that's when the talent upgrade comes into play.

pistons hired carlisle and brought in cliff robinson. established the defense first attitude and controlled offense. only the year after they established it, did they start bringing in better players to enhance the established team.
