Come on, a good coach Eases his philosophy in, not brow beat his players until they submit, kill their games and then ship them out.
Bring in more youth that sucks will just make the knicks worst.
He's got to find a happy medium, not medium grade players.
if you have watched those teams you will see that they do play defense. They dont just push the ball looking to outscore. Diaw, Raja Bell, KT, Marion are all excellent defenders, and Nash never leaves his guy wide open for 3's, he chases his guard and gets his hands on a lot of balls. He plays HARD on defense and is very disruptive.
Avery Johnson has the Mavs playing better D than they ever have. Howard and Daniels have been tough all year and Dirk is much improved himself. He's flat out killed Dampier at time (yes publicly) for not putting enough effort into defense.
Please watch these teams. Same with the Nets. No.. Vince isnt locking guys down but he plays hard in the scheme and RJ/Kidd are two excellent defenders. Who's an excellent defender on our team? Last time we tried to "run" we gave up 70 first half points.
If you think we are a running team you dont know hoops. Running teams take care of the ball. They play excellent transition defense. They get in passing lanes. They rebound. They dont give up easy baskets. They swarm.
We do none of that stuff... at least our "leaders" dont.
You who ran a lot over the last few year? Larry's pistons. Rebounds, blocked shots and steals = a lot of layups for Prince, Billups, Sheed and Rip breaking down court. That team got a ton of easy buckets all created off of defense. Defense always makes offense easier.
