You say how the Knick's frontline gets tired quickly because they guard bigger stronger players, but don't you think that the opposing teams players would also be tired from guarding smaller, but quicker players?

No, because Harrington, Thomas and Spoon arent smaller and faster, just smaller. If your frontcourt is Camby at c, Robert Horry at pf and Spree at sf then yes, their quickness would put the opposition at a great disadvantage than a lack of size would.

Size is overrated. Look at Ben Wallace and Antonio Davis, two guys at 6'8 and 6'9 that were dominating forces in the East. The both have a great combo of smarts, speed, strength and fundamentals to outplay bigger men on a nightly basis.

You might not know this but Wilt Chamberlin was an accomplished world class runner in the mile --a great volleyball player and ran marathons as well. He was 7-3 275 or so. Guys like the dream and KG are 7=-0 or right around and they were and are cat like quick with an abundance of stamina. Our guys are 32 not 26 and while you maybe able to maintain close to the same stamina level-it's more likely that you lose some quickness to your moves --especially later in the games which can effect your play on both ends.
A couple of points on that-- some athletes are just medial freaks like john stockton and karl malone who must have geneticaly incredible metabolisms and then the other spectrun is a guy like MJ who is clearly breaking down physically but his game at some poinst of the season appeared as if he was playing the best ball ever--like he altered his body[more muscular] and skills to make up for his lack of mobility but the result was significant during periods of the season. But in the long run mother nature catches you. That is my main concern with the Knicks--I'm fearful that we may come to a point where spree and houston drop a level and we are still over the cap for years. Thats why I thought it was so important to TRY to use the full level exemption on Mike Redd. not only would've he provided the 6th man we need but he also wouldve been a replacement for sprewell in 2 years.

To return to the original question - I'm willing to wait and see how Chaney does. He seems like a genuinely decent human being (not the same as being a great coach, I know!) and I'm pulling for him to succeed.

I guess the main rap against Chaney is that he is "too nice". There were a couple of times last year when he let the guys off the hook and I thought he shouldn't have. The group of guys he had was immature, and used to a stern, disapproving father figure whom they were desperate to please. Chaney asked them to mature beyond that while dealing with other unrelated adversities such as Camby's injury. It didn't work.

Let's see what happens this year - he'll have his training camp, he'll have Dice. The Knicks should make the playoffs.
