the point bonnie is that everyone harps on these trades because the talent gets upgraded, but its plain as day that the team is going south. We have a bunch of homerun hitters that dont run hard, cant play the field and strike out all the time. The point is with every move our GM futher demonstrates he has no idea how to build a team, that every offseason, draft and trading deadline whatever plan he had totally changes. On top of it these guys play so bad when they do get here that they are labeled cancer players with bad contracts that have no trade vaule, thus defeating any purpose in getting them in the first place.
Still doesn't answer the question of where you pulled the notion of us struggling to rebound out of. I have no idea how these new tangents your off to relate to your original post about *rebounding* (and defense) being our problems.

Someone's ready for baseball season.
I am too. We all need a break from the Knicks. The Yankees will at least be watchable even if this season ends just like the last five.

what tangents? Read the whole thread again. People are talking about exciting Isiah makes the team. I aksed a simple question, who's going to rebound and defend. I then suggested that while we certainly have traded for more talented players, none of them rebound and defend.

Rebounding and defending are important parts of basketball, if you didnt know that I can see why this was confusing for you.

Isiah's trades never address our team's needs.

I disagree with most on this thread. I think rebounding is a problem? I dont think its a huge problem but we need that one guy that can grab rebounds and defend at the same time. Lee isnt getting playing time. Yea, Steve Francis can rebound but he isnt the guy who will get that one rebound we really need to win the game.

I guess I have been watching different games but the other team gets any rebound they want. The only rebounds the Knicks get are the one's no one cares about.

you're right, you and fish are watching different games. NY is 6th in the league in total rebounds(2nd in offensive rebounds). so again, rebounding is important, but it is not a problem our team has. now if you want to complain about defense, turnovers, and fouls, go ahead.

LOL! I guess I should watch more closely at the rebounds they get. It just feels like most of the important rebounds offensive and defensive go to the other team.

Yeah, it's really very simple. It couldn't be more obvious that the question about rebounding made no sense.

dude, you looking at total rebounds. Who freakin cares. 3 years ago the Pistons were statistically among the worst rebounding teams in the league. Its a BS stat. I'm talking about Eric Williams dunking on a put back because Frye doesnt box out. I'm talking about Haslem dunking on putbacks because Mo T doesnt box out. I'm talking about opposing players constantly dunking on the offensive glass because we dont box out. We jack up tons of shots and collect tons of rebounds. That doesnt mean crap.

I'm watching the games all right. Dont tell me happycrappy, I'll freakin tell you. You watch the Knick of the 90's. The opposing NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER dunked on the offensive glass. Oak, Ewing, Mason, et all ALWAYS put a body on guys. We dont do that. Thats bad rebounding.

Please... dont tell me what I'm seeing. I know what I'm seeing. This team is soft and they do NOT own the glass. We are athletic and get a lot of boards but we are soft let opposing bigs camp in the paint all the time.

Bonn: if you remember, me and you both at some point last summer said this trading deadline would be when we judge Isiah as a GM. I think he has done an OK job. Not a good job and definately not a bad job but i'm giving him a B- right now. If he pulls off a good trade before 3PM, I'll say otherwise. What do u tihnk?

If nothing else gets pulled off, I'd say I'm disappointed because our players are so soft, but I'd wait to see how the Francis/Marbury backcourt actually works out. A few weeks ago, I started a thread ranking the options I saw available for expiring contracts that would make this team tougher and would compliment a core of Marbury, Curry, Frye and possibly some of our young players. The trades Isiah pulled off were ones that I had ranked as adequate but far from the top of the list.

Here's the thread:

your right Jay.. we are an awesome rebounding team. We own the glass. I just checked the stats. My bad. I thought I saw opposing players crashing the glass and dunking on us. We must really do a good job rebounding once we are down 20, because up until that point I must have missed it.

Bonn, I could care less about your posts. I will never have a war with you because I rarely read your posts. It just happens to be incredible slow today so I guess you got lucky. Your comments on this thread reminded me why.

Well congratulations then @$$hole. WHy did you come back anyway?

So one vastly overpaid, underachieving, selfish PG, who will be on the downside of his career before the young players that we're allegedly building around are ready to win anything, wasn't enough so Isiah had to get another one? I can't wait to see what other moronic and senseless trade(s) Isiah makes when I get off the plane in 14 hours. Here's one guess: We're going to be taking back a lot of money for a lot of years and getting a highly questionable player with more questions than positives.

And if we don't make another move then the Bulls should start their lottery party this weekend, with this ridiculously disjointed and undersized roster of ours. I'm sorry, what's Isiah's plan again? To keep the Cablevision checks coming for as long as he can? Come on all you Isiah lovers out there, tell us how when you thought of "rebuilding" the first name you thought of was Steve Francis. And so much for Ariza being a big part of this "rebuild".

I said they needed to fire Isiah before the trade deadline before he was able to make another trade that would set this franchise back even further. Now he has and it stands to get worse in a matter of hours.

I hate to say I told you so but you know.
