What if Francis is shipped immediately to Lakers for Odom? Just a thought.

not bad, sounds good to me. probably would take francis and a pick. but i'd still rather see jc gone.

First off this deal is a no brainer. Penny and Ariza are extras on this team. Q2 was ahead of Ariza already and Penny is washed up.

Francis, if nothing else, is a CHIP to be played.

I am not certain of the rules but is it possible to now package Francis with a few pieces and trade for someone else? What if he shipped to LA for ODOM? What if Marbs is now traded. Everyone assumes it is Craw but IT always works against the grain.

This team is gathering lots of first round talent!

Why the hell would the Lakers trade their best rebounder and passer for another ball-hogging shot-first guard with a prima donna attitude? Gimmeabreak.

My only thought on moving Francis immediately is Francis to Denver for Kmart and Watson. Once he's officially a Knick, he might not mind the idea of going to Denver. Denver to LA is a short flight to visit Cuttino for their fishing trips.

Sources: Francis dealt to Knicks for Penny, ArizaBy Chris Sheridan
ESPN Insider

Steve Francis is headed to New York under a deal agreed to Wednesday by the Knicks and the Orlando Magic, ESPN.com has learned.

The teams agreed to a trade of Francis for Penny Hardaway and Trevor Ariza, two league sources with knowledge of the deal told ESPN.com.

The trade was expected to be announced later Wednesday afternoon after being called in to the league office.

In New York, Francis will be paired with Stephon Marbury as the highest-paid backcourt duo in the NBA.

The Knicks were still talking with several other clubs as team president Isiah Thomas worked at remaking a roster that has stumbled to the league's second-worst record, 15-37.

For the Magic, the trade will provide salary cap relief to a franchise that can now go further beneath the cap than any of the league's 30 teams in the summer of 2007 when a bumper crop of free agents will be on the market, giving Orlando several options in figuring out how to rebuild around 20-year-old power forward Dwight Howard.

This is a piece to be moved in the offseason, we have two picks, David Lee and Nate to move with a player like Francis, I can imagine the Lakers doing a deal, and other teams interested

So, what is that now... McDyess, Eisley, Ward, Lampe, Vujanic, Ariza, and 2 picks for Marbury and Francis? The fallout remains to be seen, but from a pure talent/asset perspective that's pretty impressive...

It's crap no one wants for overpaid prima donnas some people want but can't afford. I dunno know, man. There has to be another trade here. We deserve to be ridiculed if we trot out a lineup of:

PG - Marbury
SG - Francis
SF - QRich
PF - Crawford
C - Nate

I am surprised that Penny was the one who went-- an odd turn considering the last couple of day's worth of rumors. Why the sudden change from JC/Mo? This really throws a kink into all the other rumors as well. We may be in for a surprise tomorrow.

On the bright side, at least we still have David Lee for one more day.

We still have our rookies as of now which is good. i really hope they can move, JC, Malik or Mo. Of course it would be nice to move Big Snacks but who are we kidding.

I agree, as I've stated for a while, this deal was a no brainer. Maybe Isiah isn't done yet either.

supposedly Isiah offered them two packages:

1) Penny and Ariza

2) Jamal, Mo T and Ariza for Francis and Garrity

Orlando took option 1, obviously.

The rumor now is that Zeke is peddling Jamal and MoT plus picks and maybe Lee to either Denver or Portland for the much rumored Kmart/Earl or Theo/Miles packages.

twenty twenty four hours to goooooo, I wanna be sedated.

Yes, a deal to move JC, Malik and MO would be grand! How about for Kmart? I would do that deal in a heartbeat.

Knicks Obtain Francis in Deal With Orlando

By HOWARD BECK
Published: February 22, 2006

It is possible that both Francis and Ariza will be playing for their new teams tonight. Orlando is in East Rutherford to play the Nets. The Knicks have a home game against the Miami Heat. If both teams waive the usual physical examinations, Ariza and Francis could cross the Hudson River in the next few hours and be fitted for their new uniforms by tip-off.

Right now, the Knicks have on their roster:

Marbury, Francis, QRich, Crawford, Nate, QWoods, JRose

That is alot of talent on the backcourt and not one, PG!!!!

Craw and QRich for Watson and Nene....make the deal, IT.

Wow that would be awesome if Stevie Wonder Francis can suit up tonight. It's fortunate they are in the city already.

I'm not a big Francis fan but my thinking is maybe-- maybe-- this can work. But I swear I'll have a seizure if we trade for Martin.

Wow... we gained more talent by far in this deal--- it's almost like getting something for "nothing".

I can't wait for Isiah Thomas's press conference announcing the signing. He'll say something like, "we're delighted to add another versatible ball handler like Steve. I see a lot of similarities between his game and mine..."

If we plan on keeping Francis and Marbury there is ZERO need for Watson.
I think adding Francis also puts us in more of a position of strength.
We should no longer be ok to gamble on KMart's knees...
We have a decent team with over 60 million in Expiring contracts next season.
As well as some picks...
Wee're looking alot better than we did a week ago.
