I don't get it, Marbury is available to be had RIGHT NOW. If any team was interested in signing him as a free-agent, why wouldn't they be interested in a trade right now? His value is what it is, not very high.

Well it would appear to me that Marbs is most valuable to the Knicks at the moment...The Knicks are not giving up Marbs for a bag of donuts...Also, the back end of Marbs contract is huge....People are not in the biz of occupying 43% of their cap space with one player...It has nothing to do with Marbs the player but his contract....

It just amazes me that people still continue to hate on Marbs after seeing what he means to this team.....the Knicks are 1-10 without him and still they want to run him out of town....NICE...

And what exactly is our record this year WITH him?

Trust me, we don't need Marbury to win 13 games by the All-Star break, we could get an NBDL point guard to do that.

I'm not going to trust you on that......Well Marbs looked alot better b4 your boy Larry got there...

IMO, $10 to $12 million a year for four to five years.

Unless, of course, the Knicks were interested.

I was just going to post something like this- $50 for five years. I think that would be the market.

Of course, he could end up like sprewell, sitting with no team to sign him.

Why hasn't sprewell signed even a one year deal?

VOted by his peers as the most over rated player tells a tale of not being mr. popularity.

The arrogance and lack of being team oriented must be quite a turnoff for many players, and if spoken might not want him.

I'd say a team on the cusp would gamble. Say Detroit had the money and Billups had a sudden career ending injury. Mutually beneficial for him to take a pay cut, say down below 10 mil, about 6-7 and promote that he wants to play on a contender and its more important than money. He got plenty of that by now anyway!

He is max talent, but not a max leader or personality.

40 to 60 mil? About the same as Adonal Foyle, Antoine Walker and less than Erik Dampier? I don't know about that. I'd say $60 mil min in a sign and trade. I'm sure a team like Min would do Ricky Davis, a 1st rd pick and a $60 mil contract for Marbury. How else are they going to compete for a title with KG? Houston would make an offer too. Plenty of other 8th seed bubble teams would.

c'mon- you think minny would trade ricky davis and a first round pick for marbury @$60m?

They probably could have him now and we send him with a pick for Ricky and they wouldn't do it.

I still think they would but forget that example. Maybe they do Jaric, one other player, and a pick instead. The point is that anyone who thinks Marbury would get only around $50 mil isn't looking at the history of inferior players getting that much or more.

Everyone the Knicks nearly got rid of, before they did the talk was that no one wanted them but afterwards it was like yeah we were targeting that guy for sure. Bonn had it for sure, if Marbury was on the market he would get what he was asking for. He is actually doing more to improve his value by not playing. Everyone could see that without the guy the Knicks have no shot at winning any games.
